Announcement   Welcome to my Etsy shop! My metals are all recycled and conflict free stones are the only stones I use. So relax and enjoy your jewelry. Please see my shop policies link if you have any questions about sizing, returns, shipping etc.

If you would prefer to contact me through your regular email, my email address is justine [!at] jyaffa.com.

Right now my work time is right around 5 weeks (give or take a couple of days), some things do take a bit longer. I would like to avoid rush orders as much as possible this year, as it causes stress for both you and me. :-) So...please give me at least 6 weeks lead time. If that isn't possible, and I realize that sometimes it isn't, contact me ASAP and I'll see what I can do to make your wedding/engagement/birthday/etc. :-)

***STUDIO HOURS***
singleB studio hours are 10 to 4pm PST, Tuesday through Thursday. Emails and convos will be answered as soon as possible. I get a high volume of questions so please be patient if you send me an email, I try to answer everyone as soon as I can. :-) If you are looking for a rush order, please say so in your email and I will get to you ASAP.

If you are interested in my design process or if you are curious about how things are made, please visit my blog: www.singlebstudio.blogspot.com

Please see my store policies section for questions about shipping, returns, and other nuts and bolts issues.

Buyers, please know that your order will take around 4-6 weeks to make. Calculate 4 weeks from the date that I received payment and you will have your soonest possible shipping date (4-5 weeks is more the standard). If you have a special occasion, please let me know and I will try to work with you. Some items will not take that long to ship out, but in general 3 weeks is the absolute minimum of time I need to actually make something. I also charge an express order fee for any deadlines under 4 weeks. Special projects will likely take longer than 4 weeks, but I will keep you updated on the progress on your special order.

Beautiful, brilliant diamonds shimmer in warm 18kt yellow gold. The design, setting, and posts are all done to perfection. Thanks again, Justine, for another singleb addition to my collection!

About

Ex-Navy linguist decides to not become an academic and starts her own jewelry business instead.

I love precious metals and stones. Not because they are precious, but because they are beautiful and hard wearing. I try to make jewelry that will last as close to forever as a piece of well loved jewelry can. I want my pieces to be passed on to grandchildren. Perhaps to be taken apart and reset to suit the fashion of the times (what will popular jewelry look like in 50 years? I predict that halo settings and micro pavé will be just as ubiquitous). But maybe not! So that is what I am aiming for. Pieces that a future granddaughter will be as excited to wear as her nana was back in the day. And I want the construction of my work to last that long too, not just the designs.

I can't take myself that seriously though, I don't want to go on and on about my design process or influences. Ideas come into my mind, I attempt to make them in metal and then I make them again and again until they are perfect. I don't have enough time (or resources!) to make all of the things that I think of, but nothing is more satisfying than when I finish a new piece. Except, perhaps, when I make something new and people like it as much as I do. I avoid making things that I wouldn't wear myself, mostly because I despise having to work on something that doesn't appeal to me aesthetically!

I try to value each piece individually, give it my full attention, and not let routine take over. I love it when my customers let me know a little about themselves (of course, I also value those who just want to buy something and don't need a lot of backstory or hand holding!). And I REALLY love getting engagement or wedding photos after my work has been put into action.

So I guess that's about it. I am a work from home mama, who lives in her studio part of the day, looking out on a big natural garden, with two tiny pugs snoring away under the desk.

I work from home, in a tiny studio that looks like a little house. It is covered in ivy on one wall, and looks out onto the garden that my husband works so hard in. I have two babies (twins!) and two pugs (devils!), and one wonderful life.

Shop policies

Welcome to my shop. I want you to be happy with your jewelry and the best way to accomplish this is for you to read my shop policies carefully. Thanks!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
  • Other Method
Payment
I accept credit/debit cards, paypal, or bank issued money orders or certified checks. I also accept personal checks, but I will have to wait until the check clears before I will start or ship your order.

In most cases, custom orders require a 50% deposit. If you are having a custom order made, I will make you a custom listing here and you can then purchase it to get the order started.

Please pay for the item that you have ordered with 2 days of purchasing. If you have purchased something that I have on hand, something that I do not have to make, I will ship it within 3 days of receipt of payment.

I do make most items custom AFTER THEY ARE ORDERED. So please allow 4-6 weeks for production and and additional couple of days for shipping. If it is a custom order, you and I will work out the details together about the time-line.
Shipping
Domestic (United States) orders will be shipped via USPS priority or Express mail, with insurance. Orders over 5K will be shipped via USPS registered mail with insurance.

In general INTERNATIONAL orders will be shipped via USPS, with insurance if the value is below 5000 USD. If it is above that, I will ship via Fedex. In addition, some countries require shipping via a certain method, so INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING WILL BE DEALT WITH ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. Some countries do not allow jewelry to be shipped to their country. ***I CANNOT get real insurance for Fedex shipments, so if I have to ship via Fedex to your country, buying from me will be at your own risk. :-(***

**If you are ordering internationally, it is your responsibility to pay the proper customs taxes etc. In general, when a package has entered your country's customs and postal service there isn't much I can do to track it from there.***

Buyers, please know that your order will take right around 4 weeks to make. Calculate 4 weeks from the date that I received payment and you will have your average shipping date. If you have a special occasion, please let me know and I will try to work with you. Some items will not take that long to ship out, but in general 3 weeks is the absolute minimum. Special projects will likely take longer than 3-4 weeks, but I will keep you updated on the progress on your special order.
Refunds and Exchanges
Returns on PREMADE/READY TO SHIP items available in the sale section or listed as ready to ship:

Please contact me within 7 business days if you intend to return the items you purchased. Shipping and insurance on the return is your responsibility.

CUSTOM ORDERS:
Returns on custom orders are done on a case by case basis. I require a 50% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit on all custom orders. The final 50% is due when the item is finished and photographed. Your item will ship after you give photo approval and make the final payment. If you receive the item and are displeased with it due to obvious defects, I will do whatever is necessary to correct the problem. If it is true to the description and photographs, and you still want to return it (within 10 days of receipt), I will give you a return of 50%. The non-refundable portion of your payment applies towards my time and investment in materials.

LISTED ITEMS:
All sales are final. In general, items purchased AS PICTURED in my listings (no changes to any part except ring size) can be EXCHANGED within 7 days of receipt of the item. Please let me know within 7 days that you want to exchange your item. I am a small business, and each item that I make after it is ordered is an investment of both time and materials. Exchanges are a big deal for me, so please be as absolutely sure as you can that you want the item that you are purchasing. I make a great effort to describe and photograph my items accurately so you will have a good idea of what you will be receiving.

I am NOT DOING RESIZING at this time. It is always, always better to get the ring in the CORRECT SIZE the first time around. I cannot emphasize this enough! Please, please, please get your correct ring size from a jeweler (if it has been a few years since you were last sized, it is probably a good idea to get sized again). Any jewelry store will be able to give you your size. Please do not print out a ring sizing chart and hold your rings against it, or wrap a string or slip of paper around your finger to get your size. That will rarely give you your correct ring size. Please just go and get sized with metal rings at a shop, you will be more pleased with the result, trust me. :-)

ATTENTION GUYS: I don't know any tricks for getting your girlfriend's ring size without her knowing. I really don't. I always feel that it is best to just ask, and find out the correct size, with any additional input that she might want to give you. I've had guys come back to me after they propose wanting to change the color of the metal, or having trouble getting the ring re-sized because it was 4 sizes to big. JUST ASK HER. Just ask her, and find out what she would like to have. Seriously. A girl will be much happier with a smaller surprise factor, if it is the ring that she wants in the correct size. Seriously. :-)
Additional policies and FAQs
CUSTOMER PROVIDED STONES

I do not work with diamonds/moissanite/sapphires that people purchase elsewhere. The only time I work with a stone that someone else provides is when it is grandma's old stone, or something like that. And even then, only rarely. All of my diamonds come with a grading report from one of the national agencies, and I select them individually to suit the project. That is my policy, and I have never had any complaints about the diamonds that I select (large, or small).

DIAMOND SELECTION

I don't keep a stock of diamonds on hand, so I need to order them for each ring after a deposit has been paid. When I buy a diamond I usually have stones sent out to me (using the parameters set up in terms of color/clarity/carat/cut). I then look for proportions in terms of table and pavilion percentages, a very good polish, and I make sure that any inclusions aren't distracting (i.e. they get lost in the sparkle). I also look for a clean and sharp sparkle, no dimness or blurriness. I only use what I feel are superior stones, and every diamond I use I would use for my own wedding ring. All larger (.25ct+) diamonds will be GIA or AGS certified, unless we have discussed using diamonds from other grading agencies or the listing specifies that the diamond does not come with a grading report.

INSURANCE

It is really important that you insure your purchase. I am not an insurance agent, I'm a craftsperson/artist and I know almost nothing about insurance, nor do I offer any sort of insurance or warranty on my rings. An agent will be able to guide you through insuring your ring/diamond much better than I can. So please, have your ring/diamond insured! Accidents happen, things get lost, so be prepared with a good insurance policy.

RUSH ORDERS

I know it is hard to plan ahead of time, but rush orders are very stressful (for both you and me!). Depending on the item that you order, if your deadline is sooner than 6 weeks from the date you purchase the item, there might be a 150USD rush order fee. I'm sorry, but my schedule is very full and when I have to rush something it is very disruptive. Please keep that in mind when you are planning your purchase. :-)

CAN YOU COME AND VISIT THE STUDIO TO SEE RINGS IN PERSON?

I make almost everything custom after it is ordered. So, I don't have a stock of jewelry on hand to be tried on or looked at. I also work from a studio in my backyard, and it makes me extremely uncomfortable to have people come to my home. I have small children and a very limited work schedule, so it isn't likely that I will have the time to meet you at a cafe etc. I'm also Jewish, so I don't work on Saturday, and I am reluctant to use my Sunday "relax at home" time for work. This is just how I try to balance my work/life situation, thank you for understanding. I am more than happy to chat with you over the phone, or answer questions via email.
