Announcement   At Sister Sheep, we raise sheep and we love to share their fibers with you, the hand spinner and fiber artist. Our sheep live and thrive on a ranch in NE Colorado, where our rancher sister Sarah and her husband raise hay and cattle. Our sheep are covered to provide the best product for our customers.

Thanks to our wonderful Etsy customers for another great season - our 12th. We appreciate your interest in our fleece, love receiving your feedback, love to convo with you about our fleece. We will be shearing in April 2019 and will have fleece for sale here in late spring.

We also had fleece from our good friend Jerry Dunn who raises and trains llamas and cares for an alpaca named Pace (Pa-chay) and an adorable paco vicuna named Mochito as well as llamas. Beautiful fibers we offer at affordable prices to entice our sheep loving customers into trying a new fiber for blending or other fiber fun :)

About

Sisters (and friends) Love Sheep (and goats)

Sister Sheep consists of biological and non-biological sisters. Sarah and Julie, born in Wisconsin, both moved to Colorado. Julie became a knitter, weaver, seamstress, all things fiber and Sarah became a cattle rancher. The sheep came into the picture one day when Julie, the fiber sister, and her non-biological sisters (friends) wondered, “Why don’t we spin our own yarn?” and off they went to find fleece. That led to Julie asking Sarah, “Why don’t you raise sheep and we’ll spin the fleece?” That sounded like such a good idea that Sarah did some research and then drove to Wyoming in December 2007 to pick up 7 pregnant Rambouillet ewes. Thus Sister Sheep was born. We have celebrated our 12th anniversary and are still loving the animals and the fiber.

In the foothills near Denver, Marny, another fiber friend and animal lover began raising mohair goats. That flock, now 5 goats, produces prodigious quantities of gorgeous mohair for spinning and hair for doll makers.

Julie and Flo make sure our sheep are covered with jackets from Rocky's Sheep Suits of Loveland CO. That keeps their fleece clean, considering they live outside year round. After shearing, Julie and Flo skirt each fleece (meaning we take off the parts handspinners would not want to work with) and offer it for sale at a local annual fleece fair and on Etsy.

We love our customers and are happy to answer any questions about our fleece and fiber.
