About six06
** ARTIST STATEMENT **
The art that I create is an amalgam of influences from Michaelangelo to Yepes, covering an array of genres and styles, ultimately fusing them to create something contemporary and iconic, yet timeless and infinitely familiar.
My early years were shaped by popular culture and the empowerment of women, thus most of my works reflect this. However, I am more interested in the journey and new discoveries of creating a new piece of work than I am with the finished product. This is usually how I discover something new, either in the execution or the medium. As my work continues to evolve, the strong undercurrent of taking risks, confidence and the sheer desire to create is ever present.
** BIOGRAPHY **
Julie Zarate was born in Houston, Texas, in 1970 where she currently lives and works. She attended San Jacinto Community College and the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. She has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and several galleries in Houston. Her work has been featured in numerous publications online, in print and on video. She is also one of the founders of the art group, Las Chingonas.

Accepted payment methods
Returns and exchanges
Payment
i also accept cash and money orders via snail mail. personal checks must clear before i send an item. please send cash at your own risk! i wouldn't advise it.
payment must be received within three days of purchase, if using paypal. please complete your transaction after purchasing the item from my shop. i have had a glitch in the past where i purchased something from a shop and thought it was finalized via paypal, but it was not. imagine my horror to be given a "reminder". i will send a gentle reminder as well, if that is the case, but no hard feelings, i assure you. :)
if payment is made by mail, it must be received within 7 days of purchase.
Shipping
i do not offer insurance as a general rule, but if you would like, please ask, i'll be happy to provide it for your special package. the invoice for that service will be sent to you at that time.
----------
PLEASE NOTE: I use an out of state printing company. All prints, unless otherwise specified, come directly from them. I can not offer individually signed prints because of this. Additionally, they do NOT ship outside of the U.S.
