A beautifully made cushion which was well packaged although I'm not as keen on the 'spruce' colour in the flesh. It's far greener than I expected... was expecting more of a softer, washed out tone as per the photos.
I should have looked through the other listings in the same fabric as the wee lined purse is a far closer representation of what I received.
Would definitely order again though due to quality of products. Thanks.
Skinny laMinx is a design company in Cape Town that’s all about midcentury style, pattern & colour, with a dose of African chic.
It all started in 2007 when Heather Moore began making papercuts and screenprints in a little painter’s studio, and selling them online.
“I’ve always loved making intricate papercuts, and I also enjoy carving linoleum and printing fabric. Working with my hands causes me to come up with solutions, lines and shapes that I find unexpected, and it makes the design process exciting,” says Heather.
By 2012, the business had grown so much that Skinny laMinx opened a shop in central Cape Town, at 201 Bree Street. Upstairs from the shop is a light and airy studio, where the team is hard at work, cutting, sewing and packaging goods to send off to homes and stores across the globe.
Each year, Heather designs a new textile collection and we bring out new fabric and paper products for sale. Skinny laMinx fabric goods include cushions, shopping bags, table runners, napkins, tea towels, purses and smock dresses for toddlers. We also sell fabric by the metre for use as upholstery, curtaining and other décor items.
“My design inspiration draws on my environment and experience, resulting in clean and simple design in interesting colours. People like the designs, but they also like following me on Instagram to see how the designs develop out of the things I see and make.”
Some of our very successful design collaborations include working with Chronicle Books, Cloud9 Fabrics, Heath Ceramics and there are more in the pipeline too.
About the future, Heather says:
“I hope to keep evolving as a designer, ensuring that our patterns and products continue to inspire everyone who sees Skinny laMinx to think afresh about pattern, colour and shape.”

I'm Heather Moore. I started Skinny laMinx as a bit of a hobby in 2006, and now it's turned into a proper business. I do all the designing and prototypes, and have a fab team help me do the rest.

These lovely ladies make up our cutting and sewing team. They work independently, mostly on Skinny laMinx work, but also with some other small designers in Cape Town.
Everything in my shop is designed by me, and then the rest of the team gets stuck in to make sure it all happens 'just so'. Our printing is, sewing, and other bits of production, are all done by local individuals and businesses not far from the studio.
