Skinny laMinx used to be a hobby, and now (thanks to the internet) it's a business!

In some ways, Skinny laMinx is really a hobby that got out of control. I started a blog in 2006, showing the things I had made for fun in my studio. People seemed to like them, so I opened this Etsy shop, and started selling my printed tshirts and tea towels, stitched cushions and handcut magnets.

Then a wholesale enquiry from a store in the USA arrived, I decided to take it on, and before I knew it, I had a business on my hands.

We opened a brick-&-mortar shop in Cape Town at the end of 2011, and every day is jam-packed with customers, orders & things to do.

I'm a big fan of mid-century and Scandi design, which shows in my work. I find inspiration for my work all around me. I see patterns in knives, forks, jugs, teapots, keys, plants, seeds, shoes, and just about every ordinary thing I see in my day. I often just sit in my chair at home and sketch whatever I see, and the more I look, the better I see.

Oh, and the name "Skinny laMinx"? It's a nickname for my skinny little Siamese cat, Monkey!

Hello! I'm Heather Moore, and I live in Cape Town, South Africa, where I have a shop called Skinny laMinx, with my studio right above.

Everything in my shop is designed by me, and then the rest of the team gets stuck in to make sure it all happens 'just so'. Our printing is, sewing, and other bits of production, are all done by local individuals and businesses not far from the studio.

South African customers can do an EFT payment by arrangement.
Everything is shipped from South Africa, using a top-notch and outrageously reliable mail service that delivers packages to all corners of the world.

We send parcels regularly, within 2-3 business days of an order being placed. We'll send you a mail to tell you when your parcel has been sent, so you can start watching your mailbox! To the USA and Europe delivery is between 10 - 15 working days minimum, in rare cases 30 days maximum. Australian customers should expect a longer wait as items go through a strict customs clearance, so please allow 15-30 days at most.

Please do note that orders can be delayed due to unforseen circumstances, and we allow up to 30 days from payment to delivery. Please do get in touch with us directly should you be concerned regarding your order.

Any additional customs charges will be paid by the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
If an order doesn't arrive with the buyer within 30 working days of sending (barring extraordinary delays due to postage strikes, extreme weather or political events), we will re-send a replacement, but this will happen one time only. After that, it's a loss for both of us, and we'll just have to jointly curse the post office.

If you change your mind about the things you have bought, you can return them within 30 days of your purchase date. If they are still in the condition in which we sent them to you, we'll give you a refund on your purchase, but shipping costs are non-refundable.

NB: Before returning an item, please send an email letting us know what you plan to do.

If the item you received is damaged, or somehow unsatisfactory, please get in touch with a photo of what is at issue. Any damaged goods supplied by us will be replaced.
