Love it!! Thanks for the little purple thingie and the note card - I tied the purple thingie around my little doggie's neck for a cute necklace since today is her birthday!!

From past-time to all the time

It started with a big fancy sewing machine. A machine I had no idea how to use but had bought with delusions of learning and making beautiful things. But kitchens are all consuming and sadly there it sat, until one day I found myself with out a job for the first time in my adult life. My first thought "sell the machine to make rent". My second thought "Make the machine make rent" so I turned it on and never looked back. I started making aprons for holiday presents, I had so many old t-shirts it was a great way to use them up, I had more t-shirts than friends, so when Christmas came I sold them. From that, a business was born.
Sewing to me is a lot like cooking. There is a definite skill set that you must learn and master, but there is also a freedom and a forgiving amount of improvisation that lends to my creative process. Making, sewing and crafting is a full time dream though I still dip my toes in the kitchen to pay the bills.
Working for myself and creating beautiful things has given me a balance and a joy that I have never had.
