Announcement   Beautiful chaos. That’s my life. It’s what I thrive on.

A musician husband, two beautiful daughters, an old dog and a new dog, almost an acre of woods, a full time gallery gig & a full time smithing gig.
My life is full & well lived.

I started to make jewelry while working on my BS in sculpture in 2004 at the insistence of my husband’s wonderful grandparents. They traveled the US in a Winnebago pulling rocks from the earth and turning them into innovative pieces of jewelry. I’m so glad they pushed and that I finally gave in.

Things I <3
Using open forms to tell my story.
Minimalism with a little whimsy & a rugged edge.
Silver, pearls, & leather.
Innovation.

Doesn't quite match picture, lacking distressed details. Could be better.

Jennah, I am so sorry that the hair fork was not hammered as shown in the photo. These are made by hand and each one will have a different texture and a slightly different shape. If you would like me to distress it more I will pay for shipping for you to return it. I want all of my clients to be completely satisfied with their order! Thank you again for your order, Sara

About

The sun, the moon, the stars above....I've always been a daydreamer, fantasy enthusiast, and maker.

Born in Evansville, Indiana, Sara Kay Rhoades was introduced to the art of jewelry making through her husband’s grandparents Albert and Virginia Rhoades while studying sculpture at the University of Southern Indiana. Albert and Virginia had spent many years traveling the US scouring mines for precious gemstones that Albert then cabbed and fashioned into heirloom silver pieces for his family and friends.

After taking a few classes from the Evansville Lapidary Society and at USI Sara experienced a smooth transition from designing large scale bronze sculptures to tiny wearable works of art winning several awards for her jewelry before graduating with a BS in fine art. After graduation in 2006, the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art in New Harmony, IN requested to carry Sara’s jewelry in their gallery. This simple invitation sparked a fire that led to the creation of S.K. Rhoades and a line of contemporary jewelry that focuses on organic and floral forms.

Sara’s jewelry was featured on the 2011 cover of Bead Star Magazine after winning the title of Best in Show. Her work was also featured at the 2011 Mid-States Fine Craft Exhibition at the Evansville Museum of Art & Science. She finished her MA at USI in summer of 2011 and currently works at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art.
