Welcome along to the Skull and Cross Buns shop of rubber stamping loveliness!
I hope you like my selection of hand carved and grey rubber stamps created to my own original designs. I like to design something a touch more alternative than the mass produced stamps on the market; when I started my business my favourite images to carve were skulls and cupcakes, hence the 'skull and cross buns'!
...................................................................................................................................................
These rubber stamps are great for personalising your own greetings cards, scrapbook pages, gift wrap, business cards, stationery etc. There are a fantastic array of ink pads available to enable you to stamp your image on paper, wood, fabric, ribbon, shrink plastic and much more besides.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

About

Love for rubber stamping + passion for retail = Skull and Cross Buns!

Well, what happened was...

My first foray into the world of rubber stamping was when I was about 9 or 10. My aunt had the most lovely gift shop back then in Plymouth, U.K. and she was famed locally for sourcing in beautiful and unusual gifts and stationery. She bought in the most gorgeous range of rubber stamps and ink pads from the United States and I immediately was hooked and started amassing a collection and stamping to my hearts content then and all the way through my teens.

Fast forward to post university (where I studied Retail Management) and I was looking for a hobby to fill my spare time and I dug out the old collection and was surprised to see the stamps were still in great condition and the ink pads were still as juicy as the were when they were purchased over a decade ago. So then I started expanding my collection and stamping in earnest, I was re-hooked!

However I craved to create my own designs in rubber stamp form and was thrilled when a stamp making kit came on the market but I wasn't getting great results so I looked for alternative ways to bring my designs to life. I came across the hand carving method and was immediately transported back to secondary school art classes and lino cutting. So I spent a small amount of my wages on a small block of rubber and some sharp pointy tools and was thrilled when I started getting fabulous results. Even to this day I get a thrill when I ink up and press down a freshly cut stamp so see a perfect impression greeting me on the paper.

By mid 2009 I'd already faced redundancy once that year and that fired me on to finally start fulfilling my long standing dream of starting my own business and by September that year my Etsy shop was live! Which stood me in good stead for a second redundancy in Spring 2010 and since then Skull and Cross Buns has been my full time vocation.

Since then I have opened a further 4 online outlets, appeared in a large number of magazine publications, built up a strong social media presence and carved over 20,000 stamps which is utterly mind blowing when I think of it! More recently I have started to have my designs beautifully recreated in artisan grey rubber stamps pressed via traditional methods still here in the U.K. which has allowed me to expand my range and offer greater variety of designs, all still intricately finished in-house.

I'm very excited about what the future may hold for Skull and Cross Buns but I will always ensure that quality and fun original designs reign supreme so you can enjoy your rubber stamps for years to come, like I still am with the ones I have from nearly 30 years ago!

LAST ORDER DATES FOR CHRISTMAS 2016:
REST OF WORLD 1ST DEC
AUS and NZ 5TH DEC
EUROPE, USA AND CANADA 8th DEC
UK 19th DEC

These are a GUIDELINE ONLY, NOT a guarantee that they will arrive before Christmas and based on the postal service in the UK and what they quote are the last postal dates which never takes into account bad weather, postal strikes etc.

Shipping time can really vary depending on your location:
UK typically takes 3-5 working days
Europe up to 21 days
US and Canada up to 21 days
Rest of World up to 28 days.

These are VERY ROUGH estimates but it's usually quicker if you live nearer to a major city. I cannot make ANY guarantees on how long it will take to arrive, please bear this in mind during busy periods like Christmas.

The UK postal service say to allow a maximum of 21 days for delivery in the UK and 28 days for delivery outside of the UK so I CANNOT replace or refund a lost parcel until this timescale has passed to allow the package a REASONABLE TIME to arrive first. The 21 or 28 days will start on the day the item was shipped as per the email confirmation you receive via Etsy when I post it.

Any deadlines which I give, such as for Christmas deliveries, are a GUIDELINE ONLY and based on the postal service in the UK and what they quote are the last postal dates which never takes into account bad weather, postal strikes etc.

If you want a package to be trackable, there will be an additional charge. Please contact me before purchase for a postage quote and for me to set a listing up accordingly.
Refunds and Exchanges
ALL SALES ARE COVERED UNDER UNITED KINGDOM LAW.

All sales are final but if there is a problem please let me know within 7 days of receipt so I can rectify it quickly. It will be carefully packaged for shipping and I will ink up and test the stamp after it is carved to ensure you have a good quality stamped image.

I’ve worked in mail order customer service for the past 14 years so I apologise that my policies might seem very thorough but I know all of the common problems and queries so I’m trying to pre-empt any which might arise in this section! And most importantly I want you to be delighted with your Skull and Cross Buns purchase so you’ll keep coming back!
Additional policies and FAQs
ALL SALES ARE COVERED UNDER UNITED KINGDOM LAW

Here is some additional information about my stamps; if you want to ask me about anything else which I haven't mentioned please contact me and I'll get back to you as quickly as I can. Or if you are interested in a custom order or want one of my existing stamps but in a slightly different size, for example, again get in touch!

The stamp you receive may vary very slightly from the picture shown in the listing, such is the nature of it being hand carved! I always work from the same master copy, though.

Please also note the stamp you receive may have some ink residue; this is from the testing the image quality whilst carving but I will clean them thoroughly as I can anyway. Some ink pads can stain the rubber I use but as long as the stamp is nice and clean any staining will not affect your stamping.

A couple of hints and tips, the rubber I use produces the best results with pigment and water based inks but dye based inks tend to 'bead' up on the rubber and produce a poor image. It is also advised to avoid solvent based inks such as Stazon as they can potentially perish the rubber.

The stamps are easy to clean the same way as you do other stamps, with baby wipes, liquid soap and water or specialist stamp cleaning fluids. Stamp cleaning mats are great for getting into the fine details, I can't recommend them enough!

IMPORTANT: ANGEL POLICY

I adopt an 'angel' policy on my stamps, please feel free to use them to hand stamp on your craftwork which is produced to be sold IN SMALL PRODUCTION RUNS and I would love to see what you do with them! All I ask is that the images are not reproduced or copied in any form by any means, graphic, electronic, or mechanical, including photocopying, scanning, making moulds of the rubber stamps to turn into polymer/silver clay charms etc. Any stamp designed by Skull and Cross Buns may not then form a part of the buyer's logo, banner, branding etc without expressed written permission as this will be classed as reproduction as per the Angel Policy.

If you are unsure if your intended use of my stamps may potentially contravene the Angel Policy, please drop me a message and I'll be happy to discuss.

I keep getting asked but I DON'T CLASS MY STAMPS AS FOOD SAFE. Due to the carving technique there can be rough bits in the grooves due to the tools I use so parts could potentially come loose if being used other than a stamp on paper.
