About SkylarkChainmaille

Sales 97
On Etsy since 2012

I've always been a maker.

I've always been a maker. A taker-aparter. You know, just to see how things worked. I was the kid who took apart the toaster to see its guts, but then never got around to putting it back together. Too many other things to investigate.

I went to RISD, majoring in Industrial Design, honing my critical thinking, and my making. Wood shop, metal shop, drawing, 2- and 3- dimensional design principles... my time in school built upon my visceral need to know how things work, how to build them, and of course, how to take them apart.

Chainmaille satisfies my visceral need to make - it's an amazing, beautiful craft with a long history. Items in the shop are primarily stainless steel (my favorite medium - strong, beautiful, and enduring) and aluminum, and I’m happy to do custom work in finer metals like titanium, silver and gold.

My shop features a Thin Blue Line series. A portion of the sales of Thin Blue Line items goes to support the families of fallen law enforcement officers, a cause close to my heart. I've endeavored to create simple, elegant designs that will satisfy your tastes, and, via the Thin Blue Line series, give a quiet nod to our everyday heroes.

I hand-make all of the items you see here. If there's something specific you're looking for, be it length, material or color, just ask!

Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
All items are guaranteed - if something breaks, send it back and I'll fix it free of charge. I want you to wear and love everything you buy!

Colored rings will lose their color from use - anodization is essentially changing the top layer of the material to form the color. Over time, with everyday use, this color may wear - this is considered normal and not a defect.

Refunds only on items returned in original state. Buyer pays return shipping.
PayPal or Etsy payment is preferred. If paying by check, item will ship once payment has cleared.

If a custom order, fabrication will begin once payment has cleared. Any questions, please ask!
Default shipping by USPS. If other shipping arrangements are requested, I'll do my best to accommodate. Insurance and/or confirmation can be purchased as additional.
