**********ABOUT THE WORK** all the goods listed are made from handmade natural-fiber felt which i make. i use a variety of fibers ranging from different breeds of wools to alpaca, llama, mohair, silk.
i make large sheets of felt which i hand dye with acid dyes from Pro-Chemical. the felt is then cut and sewn into the goods below.
i also use recycled goods when possible, like large plastic jugs for the bills and recycled bedding from second-hand stores for the linings.
each is hat is one of a kind. silhouettes may repeat, but each one has its own little individual characteristics and style elements.

************WHAT IS FELT? **********
felt is fabric that is neither woven or knitted, which is a common misconception. felt is made by taking hair fibers i.e. wool, mohair, alpaca etc, and forcing the hair follicle open in an alkaline solution (soapy water) and forcing the hair to grab each other and mat (through agitation) into a solid piece of fabric.

******WHAT IS SHIBORI? *****************
shibori is an old japanese technique of dying patterned fabric by tying resist areas into the fabric before dying. it is similar to tie-dye, just more thought out and intricate in its designs.

to encourage the buying of my hats on-line, i have an exchange policy. please see my shop policies for more information!!!
