Announcement
Truly unique and fabulous hand-made journals, sketchbooks, botanical prints and original art!
Mostly based on an old European binding style, these blank journals and sketchbooks are made with gorgeous fine-art papers, Italian leathers, hand-marbled/decorative/hand-printed papers and discarded vintage books.
Pages are hand-sewn on bands with pure linen thread.
Slow Art Studio started in a school-bus-house on Lopez Island in 1999. I draw, paint, carve stone, wood and bone with hand tools, sculpt and work in fiber arts, as well as making books. I am also a huge gardening, native plant and geology nerd and wildland explorer.
A Layaway payment arrangement is available on items that have been in the shop for at least 30 days.
Come visit the bindery if you are in the San Juan Archipelago!
Thanks for shopping small,
Brenna Jael

Why “rogue” ?
Im sorry to say there is a lot of snobbery in the bookbinding and art universe, and I’m not interested. I’ve had - and will have - some great teachers, but I’m doing my own thing.
