About

High quality yarns and roving hand dyed and hand spun

We are 4 moms living in sunny Tri Cities, Washington who became friends over our love of knitting and crocheting. We started dyeing yarn for our own personal projects, but it was so much fun we decided to open a shop so that we could keep dyeing and our homes wouldn't turn into a mountains of hand dyed yarns!

And so, SMAK (The first letter of each of our names) was born.

We find a lot of color inspiration in nature - from pictures of coral reefs, beautiful sunsets, galaxies and nebulas to flowers in bloom and winter scenes.

Each skein is hand dyed individually by us. We also offer handspun yarns as well.

Frequently asked questions

What needle size do I need?

This varies based on the yarn you choose, the pattern you choose and how tight or loose you knit or crochet. Best advice is to check the needle size your pattern recommends and swatch to match gauge.

How much yarn will I need for my project?

Again this varies based on the stitches you are using and your gauge. Check your pattern to see how many yards are recommended for the size you are knitting. See this link for a handy guide on yardage estimates if you don't have a pattern in mind: http://www.stitchywomen.com/yarns/how-much-yarn-do-i-need/
