Small Victories Handmade!

Small Victories Handmade specialises in creating pinup and vintage inspired, novelty, quirky and all round adorable brooches and accessories - specialising in acrylic and resins - perfect for your inner pin up, vintage or rockabilly gal!

We are best known for our handmade novelty brooches , as this is where our business journey began. Each brooch starts its life as a number of small sketches which are then broken down into layers, vectored and sent away to be laser cut from a high grade, clear acrylic sheeting. Once these are ready I set to work cleaning and assembling the pieces to create a unique dimensional effect. Each section is carefully hand painted and then coated in a clear, crystal resin to ensure a glossy finish.
It is a lengthy process but the finished creations are certainly worth it!

More recently we have branched out and have begun to offer a range of exciting new handmade products including earrings, necklaces, bangle, hair flowers and more!

As an avid lover of all things vintage inspired (rockabilly, pin up, retro, etc) I wanted to be able to create something that I could really engage with and relate to. I had amassed quite a collection of vintage inspired accessories, including many novelty brooches, when I finally decided to give it a try myself. Throughout my life I have come to love so many different crafts and have developed numerous hobbies, including sewing, baking and jewelry making, but found working with acrylics and resin to be particularly challenged yet also exceedingly rewarding, and I loved how I could intertwine my creations with my everyday look.

The name I have chosen for my little business - Small Victories Handmade - is actually quite symbolic. There is, of course, a nod to the vintage inspired nature of my creations and my love of all things retro. However it goes much deeper. We all have our own personal battles that we have to learn to overcome and for me that is my journey towards learning to live with depression and anxiety. This business venture is my way of being able to tackle these 'less desirable' qualities I see in myself. Mental health is an issue I feel very strongly about and is something that is only very recently beginning to get the publicity and focus it needs and deserves. For me, every piece I create is a small , handmade victory that shows the progression I have made, the patience I have developed and the self confidence and belief in my own abilities to be able to pursue my creative dreams. Recently I gave birth to my adorable little boy, the first of many I am sure, and I want nothing more than to be a role model for him and show him that anything is possible, dreams are achievable and nothing can stand in your way when you try! I want to be a mummy he can be proud of!

Thank you for being a part of every small victory I achieve!

Items marked 'delivered' on your tracking are considered delivered. We are not responsible for stolen packages. Please check with your local post office or with your neighbours to see if the package may have been misplaced.
Local post offices will generally hold an item for up to 18 days if no one is in to receive or sign for the parcel. After this they will return to sender. If this happens, we will make contact as soon as the item is returned. The customer is responsible for any further postage costs incurred.

For international buyers, please check with your post office or customs office to see if your package is being held for payment of import fees.

Lost in the Mail:
If a parcel is thought to be 'lost' in the mail please contact us immediately. Please note that no action can be taken until after a set number of days after the parcel was posted - this varies depending on what country the parcel has been sent to - see Royal Mail website for further info. We will begin by using the tracking information to attempt to locate the parcel. If this proves unsuccessful we will then submit an inquiry/claim form to Royal Mail. Royal Mail will then investigate the missing parcel. Once they confirm that is has been 'lost in transit' a full refund, including postage costs will be issued. We cannot issue a refund until this confirmation has come through from Royal Mail as parcels have been known to show up once an inquiry/claim has been submitted. All efforts will be made to keep the buyer informed throughout via your Etsy account or email.

Customs, Duty and Taxes:
Import fees, VAT, duties, handling fees, customs charges, or any other charge imposed by your government are the buyer's responsibility. It is recommended that International buyers seek the use of an online duty calculator or contact their country's customs office directly to help estimate what import fees your purchase might incur in your country prior to purchase.

We hope you love your handmade purchases as much as we have enjoyed making them. However, if you are in any way dissatisfied, please contact us within 7 days to discuss any issues and to arrange a return or exchange. Once we have received the item you will have the choice of a full refund or an exchange and we will also refund the cost of posting the damaged item back to us.

Buying Handmade:
The greatest of care is taken during the creation of each handmade item.

Our brooches are our more intricate and unique pieces. Each brooch starts its life as a series of small sketches. These are dissected into layers which are then vectored and sent off to be laser cut using a high grade acrylic. Once returned each piece is carefully handpainted, assembled and polished before being coated in a clear, crystal resin to ensure a glossy finish.

Our jewellery such as earrings and bangles are created using high quality moulds and a variety of hard wearing resins. Each piece is individually mixed, cast, sanded, polished and assembled with the greatest of care and attention to detail.

We use a a range of high quality flowers for our hair pieces, in a range of colours, textures, fabrics and embellishments. The hair clips come in a variety of sizes to suit the style of the hair piece and are secure and hard wearing.

As with all handmade creations, there will inevitably be small differences and imperfection within each piece, including differences in paint strokes and in how the resin sets. For listings with multiple items available, we use stock photos of our creations for our listings, which means your item may vary slightly from the one shown. Please note that while we try to take the most accurate photos possible, there may be some variation in colors due to individual paint batches, lighting and different monitor settings.

Caring For Your Acrylic and Resin pieces:
Acrylic is widely known as being a highly versatile and hard wearing material. This is certainly true, and all of our creations are made to withstand general wear and tear and should hold up well to regular use with proper care. However, it is important to note that they can break if dropped and the finish can be scratched if it comes in contact with sharp objects. Our products are not waterproof, so always remember to remove them before swimming or bathing. Contact with perfumes, lotions or other similar products may damage the resin finish. We recommend using a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the surface of your jewellery when required.

Feedback and Reviews:
We want to ensure your experience with Small Victories Handmade is a positive one. Not only would we love to hear feedback regarding your order process, but we also love to receive photographs of you wearing your handmade brooches, jewellery and accessories. Please help future buyers by completing a review through Etsy, and send us a snap via instagram!
If there are any problems, please contact us via email before leaving feedback and we will do all we can to rectify any issues. Thank you!.

Custom Orders:
On occasion we may offer a particular design as a custom order. Each individual listing will explain in detail the options for customization and the expected time scale for completion. We will endeavor to meet you needs and will always double check your choices via email or through Etsy messages before we get started on your order. Custom orders are non refundable.

If you have an idea for a completely new design that you would like making then we would love to hear from you and we can discuss the logistics further.

Restocking Designs:
Although it may take a couple of weeks, there is a good chance that any sold out designs will be restocked, however it is important to note that designs are produced in small batches and may sell out fast!

Currently we are not accepting pre-orders and our shop operates on a first come first serve basis. Please note that Etsy does not hold the items you place in your cart for you, so if more than one person puts the same item in their cart, the first customer to complete checkout will be the one who gets it.
