4 out of 5 starsGorgeous calendar! I’ve been on the hunt for a mushroom calendar for a long time and happy that Heather released one coz I wouldn’t have wanted any other. Gets me excited about mapping out my plans for 2023! Thanks for your wonderful assistance in helping to resend a link to the listing when Etsy was malfunctioning as it has been for a while now. It helped me heaps! Shipping was so very quick! Big thanks, Heather! Hope to get a lovely calendar from you every year! ❤️🍄✨

Photographing the pieces can take quite a while as I wait for the perfect lighting.

Mushrooms, flowers, and berries are assembled on a beautiful mossy stump

I also compose on trays. This is easier on my back and allows for more controlled lighting for photography.
This art is a way for me to learn about the environment and foster peacefulness.
I started collecting fall leaves, acorns, and berries and creating designs with them about six years ago. A few years back, I started noticing, learning about, and falling in love with mushrooms. I began incorporating them into these designs. Today, mushrooms are the main focus of my art. My art is a reflection of the ecosystems that surround my home in Asheville, NC. The southern Appalachian mountains and Pisgah National Forest (specifically) is a temperate rainforest. We receive over 59 inches of rainfall each year. This high amount of precipitation mixed with a diverse array of trees results in a wild diversity of mushrooms and fungal fruiting bodies. Creating this art helps foster peacefulness and calmness in my life (I am naturally a bubbly, energetic sort of person), and it is a modality for me to learn about the woods and organisms around me. I use legal and ethical harvesting practices. Additionally, these materials are either eaten or allowed to decompose in the woods. No effort, beyond the photography, is made to preserve them.
Thank you for your interest in my art. If you have any questions, please, reach out! - Heather Brooks
