It was more beautiful in person! And thank you for the complementary pin. Absolutely inspirational!

About

Smartsew: handmade accessories

My name is Marisa Wilhelmi and I am the face, hands and eyes behind Smartsew.

I am a proud Brazilian girl that was born in a very creative family, So I learned to crochet, sew, decoupage, a bit of embroidery and finished my bachelor degree in geography thinking about the day I could open my own shop.

So in 2010 I opened my Etsy shop , making bib necklaces, hair accessories and sashes. I had my accessories for sale at Chloe Dao in Houston for a while. Then, I learned how to quilt and made some memorable pieces for my kids. And now... here I am with my latest passion, wall hangings.

I am a self taught tapestry weaver, loving every row and every combination of color and textures.

I work at my home studio, on a lap loom, surrounded by colorful and meaningful decorations and yarn from various places in world.

Growing up in Brazil, since money was tight, l learned a lot of crafts with a very artistic and creative family. It all makes sense now! "Necessity is the creator of Creativity".
