Announcement   ** Smithfits: from the holiday special "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", referring to the Island of Misfit Toys, because we celebrate our unique quirks and differences. ** Bazaare: because it is a bazaar of bizarre selections ** Emporium: definition - a marketplace that sells a wide variety of goods

We specialize in OOAK (One Of A Kind) items, as well as sculpture jewelry - each an individual work of art. Many of our items come with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. We also have our own, uniquely designed reversible pendants, with a completely different pendant on each side, complimentary to each other. We consider our items to be individual pieces of art that can be worn anywhere: you are a curator with your own take on what is beautiful and worth displaying.

Please browse our "sold items" section to see the kind of variety we have & OOAK items we have made in the past.

We are happy to collaborate with you and create something unique, specifically for you - just message us! If you like our style, "like" our Facebook Page for advance sneak peeks, giveaways, discounts and updates on the store, the items and our process! http://www.facebook.com/SmithfitsBazaareEmporium

One of Dave's pieces, "Steampunkus Barbarus" (http://etsy.me/IfqnLg) was featured as an honored entry in the Art Show at the "Clockwork Alchemy" Steampunk Convention in California in May 2012.

About

Jumping in with both feet to try to make at living at what we love!

We have so many interests we like to dabble in, love art and love working with our hands. After many years on the road, motivated by a layoff, Dave decided to work from home and hang out with his family, hoping to make enough at odd jobs and art to support the Smith family. De is helping out while homeschooling the kids.

Both of us have a deep connection with art and working with our hands. The creative process is as satisfying as the finished product. We've dabbled here and there in our lives, taking things apart, working jobs from all areas and genres, exploring all sorts of things and places and hobbies. We learn from everything we do and never plan to stop!

Dave has been an artist since he could close his fist and loves to come up with his own ideas as well as the challenge of copying well-known art. His talents seem to know no bounds and he dabbles in almost everything. He can take just about anything apart and fix it. He is extremely creative and has a unique vision and a strong sense of quality and beauty for his art.

De has always been interested in unique watches and for a time, worked in a watch sales/repair shop, where she developed a fascination for the beauty of the inner workings of timepieces. She has loved decorated socks since before the kids came along, and baby socks just increased that interest. The lack of comfortable, decorated socks in larger sizes spurred the interest in painting socks. De dabbles in just about everything and has lots of intriguing plans for items to create for the store...

The whole family attended their first Anime convention in Columbus, Ohio in 2010, which opened the doors of creativity even more - a love of Steampunk was born! Dave started putting together little pieces for friends here and there, and they were very popular. As the handyman business was lagging & income dropped off, we found Etsy & put it all together at the very end of February 2012. We figured we'd jump in with both feet (all four feet?) and see what kind of success we'd get!

As we learn and grow, we're adding things to our repertoire, like area craft shows.

Dave & De both hope you enjoy our work and are ever so thankful for people like you who support small businesses and individual artists! <3

"If you're buying from a small business, you're not adding to a CEO's portfolio of expensive cars and vacation homes. You're helping put food on the table for a family, buying clothes for growing kids, helping a family support themselves."

  • Oddmall: Emporium of the Weird

John S Knight Center, 77 E Mill St

    Akron, OH

    May 6–7

Oddmall is part art fair, part craft show, part comic con, part gaming festival, part cosplay extravaganza, part toy show, part antique show, part vintage fashion show, part geeksplosion, part music fest, part magic show, and part various undefinable othernesses. If it’s fun, artsy, geeky, crafty or odd, chances are it can be found at Oddmall. It’s the Emporium of the Weird. Oddmall is more than just an ordinary craft show. It’s a celebration of uniqueness, creativity, imagination, and wonder where artists, crafters, and like-minded sorts gather to offer their unusual creations for public consumption. It’s a forum for creative expression, a classroom for esoteric wisdom, a soapbox for wild ideas, a miraculous marketplace of the unconventional, a metaphorical Serengetian watering hole where the zebras and wildebeests of inspiration and artistry congregate amidst the snapping crocodiles and scorching sunbeams of originality and ingenuity. …umm yeah. Anyway, it’ll be fun.

Thank you for coming to our store! Dave and I both love working with our hands and creating - sharing that work with others is an added bonus.

Our passions are assorted and quirky - some are but passing fancies, others are more long term, all inspire joy and creative sparks...

Decorated socks have been De's joy since before our first child was born, and the lack of wonderful, artful socks in adult (and even big kid!) sizes sparked that creativity.

Dave has been an artist since he could put his fist around anything and is his meditation. Mixing his art with the stuff we like to do together makes it even more a part of who he is.

Two years ago, friends invited us to our first Anime convention and was our first introduction to Steampunk. The creativity sparks from that set us on fire and is still blazing rampantly!

We love to share our joy with you! We hope you enjoy our creations!
