About

Snappy Tatter-my tiny tatted empire

Snappy Tatter opened in April 2009 as a part-time outlet to sell my lace-work and fiber art. After 3 months my shop was quickly gaining recognition so I made the decision to work solely as a fiber artist. It has been one of the best decisions of my life! I was soon invited to join the Blue Heron Art Gallery where I sold my work and was a resident artist from 2009-2011. I try to take my work to Arts Festivals a couple of times a year to meet people in person and explain what I do.

You may have seen Snappy Tatter lace-work in the October 2012 issue of Country Living Magazine!

I learned to tat through my chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America. I am strictly a shuttle tatter and have been tatting for over 14 years. I have been designing my own tatting for about eight years and have been designing fiber art and embroidery since 1993.

My work is frequently inspired by the natural elements as well as modern styles that I am attracted to. I often draw my designs first and then begin to work the pattern out with my shuttles. I am always trying to push the boundaries of traditional tatting and embroidery techniques to bring my idea to life. I know what I want Snappy Tatter designs to be; whimsical and sweet, striking, chic and glamorous. My fiber art will always be a pleasantly unpredictable expression of my mind. I am fascinated with creating three-dimensional work and patterns that closely represent actual flowers, leaves, butterflies and even "tatterpillars"!

High quality prints of my embroidered paintings can be ordered at: www.Jennifer-Kohr.fineartamerica.com. Photographic prints and can soon be found in my Etsy shop.

I recently moved Snappy Tatter to a small mountaintop cabin in northeast Washington state on the border of Canada to live with my partner. He and I are blessed to be living a no frills life that requires simple hard work and is more satisfying than anything I have ever known. Long trips to the closest town are good for chatting and tatting. A shuttle and ball of thread are very portable! Our life is lively with all of our four-legged children including two cats, a border collie and a guinea pig named Vernon. Days are filled with a dreamy serenity on top of this mountain. I hope that my newest work will translate that to you.

I love that I am approaching 7 years doing what is satisfying to me. My tiny tatted empire grows everyday as my work is shared around the world. For that I am truly grateful and feel incredibly blessed.

I live in a simple rustic cabin on a mountaintop in northeast Washington with my sweetheart. I work happily as a fiber artist designing and creating shuttle-tatted lace and embroidered fiber art paintings. I also frequently enjoy drawing.
