Announcement   Welcome to SnoozeCrafts. Stay awhile and browse. I've worked as a designer for decades-- graphics, illustration, children's books, and now handcrafts.
Crocheting is both meditation and addiction at times, and, as my button collection has grown (first by inheritance and now by intention), my fascination with old buttons grows too--not only with the age-aquired character and endless variety, but with the mystery....Who wore this? When? Where? Each bracelet carries a lot of history.
The "BAG.BAGs" resulted from a Reading Rainbow program on recycling and a sudden thought--I wonder if plastic bags might be a good material to crochet? They were. Cut into strips, they work up nicely, and the randomness of pattern and color keeps my interest up and my fingers moving along.

I have had many compliments and as i wear brown a lot, it is getting a lot of use. Wonderful fit, too.

I showed this to my sister. She will wear it at an antique car show which is asking folks to wear Civil war costumes. I like it for itself.

About

It all started with a cat and a hat...

It was the usual scramble to fill my Christmas gift list. Over a family dinner in NYC, my niece admired a striped and felted wool hat I'd made my husband (her uncle), and hinted that she'd love one in purple and green--"but not green-green--you know, that kind of limey yellow-green..." (the only green I truly love--the first green of Spring). From that mental check on my list to finding a skein of that green, to deciding everyone would get a hat that year was an easy progression. Then, one day, doing the felting shimmy-shake alongside the washing machine, I got hooked. I could not STOP making hats. Maybe I could sell them at craft fairs...I'd always liked that idea...I should sit down and try making bracelets from all those buttons I've got too...and so it goes.

A friend introduced me ETSY, and the seed for SnoozeCrafts was planted--(though I've yet to offer hats there--YET). Connecting the concept of an online shop with the tabby cat I'd crocheted some years before was the final step. The cat was an illustration assignment for a Deloitte & Touche centennial report--20 different artists interpreting a theme--"on being 100." I display the original at shows, where it always attracts attention and hands, and offer matted prints there and in my ETSY shop.

I landed in a lucky family--Mom, Dad, older sister and younger brother all crafters. It was DNA, and having all the tools at hand--scissors to jigsaws, when you're barely old enough--and willing teachers. Never did "get" tatting, though--sorry, Mom.

I come from a long line of happy crafters, and am glad to offer my own designs for sale.
Bag,Bags: I'm doing my little bit to keep all the plastic bags we collect in our lives out of landfills, by turning them into unique handbags and totes. All the materials are washed before they're cut into strips for crocheting. I also recycle catalog pages by rolling them into "spools" to wind up the cut plastic bags and organize them by color.
Button Bracelets: I try to be as accurate as possible in describing my bracelets. I've worked with buttons for some time, but I'm far from being an expert--their variety is endless and the official categories dauntingly complex. The bracelets themselves, however, are chosen and arranged with color, likeness, and variety in mind, and are truly one-of-a-kind. An important note about sizing: I recommend measuring the wrist and noting the stated size of bracelets. When a range is stated, the bracelet will be looser at the smaller size and fitted at the larger.
