Shop policies
I use almost exclusively natural materials in my work, because I absolutely love the feel of natural fabrics, soft wools and the shine of real mother of pearl - and I think you deserve this luxury, too.
Accepted payment methods
Returns & exchanges
Payment
Within Germany I can accept bank transfers directly to my bank account, please contact me before or immediately after purchase for the details. I am open to other forms of payment, but any additional charges will have to be covered by the buyer.
If these ways of paying are a problem for you, feel free to contact me and we'll work something out.
Shipping
I will ship to the address given by etsy (not paypal), so if this is the wrong one, please let me know.
The buyer is responsible for any customs charges incurred within their own country.
I ship 2 times a week, mostly on Saturday and some time in the week.
International shipping will mostly take 7-14 days, but can also take up to 4 weeks if it gets stuck somewhere, so please bear with the international mail.
Additional policies and FAQs
All of my yarns have been washed to set the twist, without being stretched unnecessarily. This should prevent major shrinkages when washing. Pure silk yarns as well as my soy silk will have a tendency to expand with washing rather than shrink, please keep this in mind when using it. All handspun yarns, or items made from handspun yarn, should be washed carefully (and if possible by hand) in warm water with very little agitation. Due to the nature of some of the handspun art yarns, great care should be taken when working with them, pulling them too hard may lead to beads or other trinkets falling out, although the utmost care is being taken in spinning a durable yarn.
Allergy information:
My home is completely pet and smoke free. No nasty detergents or essential oils are used when washing my handspun yarns.
Fibres used:
Environmental and animal welfare issues are important to me and I am trying to use more and more fibres which I can track.
Most of the silk used in my yarns is Tussah silk, which is also known as peace silk. The silk worm is not harmed in the process of harvesting this silk, as it is harvested after the worm has already left the cocoon.
In my Alpaca yarns, the fibre is hand-processed by myself from happily kept (and insanely cute) Swiss Alpacas. You can check out my local farm here: http://www.alpacas-of-switzerland.com
I also have an increasing selection of organic falkland wool yarns. Falkland wool comes from a Merino cross breed of sheep and is nice and soft (definitely next-to-skin soft). It comes from the Dunnose Head Farm in the falkland islands, well respected for having very pure wool. They do not use any pesticides or bleach and are about as green as it gets. :) Read more about it here: http://www.falklandwool.net
I also enjoy using soy silk, which is a by-product of the tofu making process. Its great qualities are slowly being acknowledged and appreciated and it is about to become the next environmentally friendly fibre.
Custom work:
Of course! I dye my own fibres and have a big stash of fabrics and trimmings.... your imagination is the limit! It will however take me a while to collect all the exact right things, but do feel free to contact me about it by sending me a message.
If you liked one of my sold items, there is a small chance I can recreate it for you - depending on whether I still have the same materials around - it's always worth asking.
Trading:
I'm generally happy to trade and would mainly be interested in colourful necklaces made from high quality materials (gem stones, glass beads) and art that catches my eyes as well as sweet ceramics and fine stationary (anything letterpress!). I am also addicted to bath and body goodies and every girl needs fabric. If you got anything unusual just let me know. :)
