I started making soap because my sister was looking for someone to make soap for her to sell in her art studio. I decided to give it a try, and was instantly hooked. I love the entire process of making soap. It's a rewarding combination of chemistry and creativity.
My favorite soap to make is soap from scratch. I use the cold process method. I love color and fragrance. The glycerin soap crafting is also a wonderful creative outlet. There are so many design possibilities with glycerin base, also known as melt and pour.
I also enjoy making lip balms, and have over 100 flavors. Lotion bars are solid lotion without any water added. They are truly a delight for your skin, and come in many fragrances and colors.
There are many other products that I make, including sugar lip scrubs, sugar body scrubs, and shea body butter to name a few.
SoapArt also has a line of wax products including wax melts and container candles.
I am continually adding products and product designs to my line. I have way too many fragrances and flavors, drawers full of cosmetic colors, and a hefty collection of soap molds.
I love what I do, and I hope it shows in the final products that find their way to my customers.

What's So Special About Your Soap from Scratch?
My Handcrafted soap from scratch is handmade by me in small batches. I take great care when choosing the ingredients for my soaps.
My soaps from scratch start with high quality natural ingredients. Some remain completely natural; others have a small percentage of synthetic fragrance and/or colors added.
When you use my soap from scratch, you'll appreciate that they are pure, mild, and gently cleansing. They will leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized.
How do you make your decorative soaps?
My decorative soaps are creamy and full of lather and bubbles. They will leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized.
Each decorative soap begins with a high quality base that includes a high percentage of natural ingredients. Most of my molded soaps contain NO DETERGENT.
I then color and scent the soap and pour it into molds.
Do your soaps contain lye?
My soaps from scratch contain a combination of high quality oils that produce lots of big, fluffy bubbles along with great lather. There are no detergents in them. Many commercial bar soaps are not true soap, but are harsh detergents fashioned to appear as soap. True soap is a carefully balanced mixture of oils and lye. Sodium hydroxide (lye) is what gives the soap its cleansing power. The cool thing is, the finished soap doesn’t contain any lye because the oils and lye combine to make soap. I think of it as the oils “eat up” the lye, in a process called saponification.
My molded soaps also contain lye, but just like my soaps from scratch, there is no lye in the finished product as it has been "used up" by the oils.
I have heard that soaps made with lye can be harsh. What makes your soap mild??
My recipes are carefully designed to ensure that there are plenty of oils to eat up all the lye. I like to include a bit of extra oil to ensure that your skin will feel moisturized and soft after using my soap. I am careful to test all of my soaps to make sure there is no extra lye running around. So if you have heard stories about lye-heavy soaps that feel harsh or that burn, or if you have personally experienced some, have no fear of that happening with my soaps. However, like any soap, it will hurt if it gets in your eyes! And it is slippery when wet Furthermore, if you have any adverse reactions, please discontinue use. The most common cause of irritation is the fragrance oil.
What method do you use for your soaps from scratch?
I make most of the soaps from scratch using the cold process method. I make small batches, and lovingly cut each individual bar. Because of the handmade nature of the soaps, each bar is unique. Your soap will look similar to, but my not look exactly like, the one shown in the photo. That’s part of the charm of homemade soaps made in small batches.
I do make some hand mill some soaps as well. Those soaps are made with the cold process method and are then grated down and melted before being re-molded.
How can I make my soap last longer?
Soaps from scratch and glycerin molded soaps do best when placed in a soap dish that allows for some circulation of air around them. Or you can put them in a bag that allows the excess moisture to escape. If the soaps don’t have adequate ventilation, they may get soft or gooey and they won’t last as long. But don’t worry – they will still bubble, lather and clean even if they get a bit goopy.
I love your soap! Can I buy a whole loaf?
Yes!
I offer complete loaves of soap (equivalent to about 8 bars). If you’re interested in purchasing one of those, please contact me and tell me what you’d like. Custom orders take up to a month because soaps from scratch require a one month to cure. Curing gives the soap time to get rid of excess moisture, resulting in a firmer, longer lasting, bubblier soap.
I can cut the soap for you or leave it in a whole loaf for you to cut as you wish.
