Additional policies and FAQs
Although I do have fun with making some melt and pour soaps using high end purchased melt and pour products, most of my soap is made by cold process and takes more than a month for curing. No synthetic surfactants or synthetic preservatives are used. Some contain artificial fragrance oils but I also make soaps with natural fragrances as well. Colors in my soaps are often enhanced with iron oxides and micas as well as natural coloring ingredients of clays and herbs.
Each soap is made of high quality food and cosmetic grade oils, sodium hydroxide and purified water. Some soap contains additional ingredients that nourish and moisturize your skin, such as clay, shea and cocoa butters, silk powder, charcoal, vitamin e oil, mango butter, oatmeal, or goat's milk from a local owner and neighbor who loves her goat with all her heart. I never purchase animal products on a commercial level. Only locally grown from owners who care for their animals.
The wonderful features of handmade soap are derived from properties of oil used in the process and vegetable glycerin, which is naturally produced when mixing the oils and aqueous sodium hydroxide. Natural glycerin tends to collect the moisture in the air. It works as a rich emollient, moisturizing the skin and cleansing both oil and water soluble residues.
Sadly, most commercially available soap today consists of only detergents and abrasive additives after the glycerin is removed. With my handmade soap, all of the natural glycerin is retained to give you the ultimate cleansing experience.
About 8% of the high-quality oil I use in my handmade soap is kept unconverted (stays as oils) for your skin. The soap cleanses without removing your skin's natural oils and your skin is protected with moisture after cleansing.
Because there are less artificial ingredients in handmade soap, using natural soap creates much less damage to the environment than draining artificially produced, chemical-ridden substances into the water. Each of us benefit the environment by using handmade soap. All ingredients of the soap will be decomposed into water and carbon dioxide by microorganisms within 24 hours after it is drained.
Most handmade soaps are very soluble. Handmade soap contains natural glycerin in great abundance so it’s much more soluble than any commercial soap.
Please keep it in a well-ventilated and dry place after each use. I recommend using a slatted soap dish that allows it to dry between uses.
Also, if you are not using the soap right away, please store it in a well-ventilated and cool place (you may store it in a refrigerator). The soap’s mildness and hardness may increase by storing it for a while, but please use it up within a year from the date of purchase.
Please read the following before purchase:
• Due to the manual process, each soap has a unique shape, weight and appearance.
• Please note that the colors shown on your computer monitor may not be the same as the actual colors of the soap.
• The weight of the soap may be reduced by natural evaporation of water.
• Our soap is handmade by an individual and please use it at your own responsibility.
• Please do not use the soap if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• Please note if there are essential oils used in the soap(s) you purchase, if you are pregnant, as pregnant women should avoid some essential oils during pregnancy. Instead, please purchase my soaps that do not contain any essential oils.
• Honey and essential oils may be irritating for babies and toddlers. Soaps that contain no essential oils or fragrance oils is more tolerated by them. I try to use as little essential oil as possible in some of my products (such as my "Bug Be Gone" products) so that they are more tolerable to the younger population and those who have more sensitive skin. If you purchase an item and receive a reaction, please stop using and notify me.
• Please note that some soaps may oxidize quickly due to the nature of oils.
• The transparent, sticky substance which appears when the soap is wet is the natural emollient glycerin.
• White particles on the surface of soap are powders from the soap itself.
• Every soap that I make and offer has been tested, but the experience is unique to each individual so please stop using if it disagrees with your skin.
