Announcement   I create original black and white ink pen drawings that incorporate swirls, flowers, geometric components, angles, and curving lines. I offer prints of my original illustrations, and I also sew and hand-embroider my original designs. I love to draw, embroider, design, doodle, create. I say *sometimes* I swirl, but the truth is, I swirl 61.4% of the time, and I've learned to just embrace it!

I bought this for my friend for her housewarming party. She loved it and hung it up right away. It shipped really fast! I ordered it last minute so I was so surprised to actually have the gift at the party on time. Great shop and it came with a hand written note from the artist. I will definitely shop from here again.

Excellent quality and shipped very quickly. The seller was excellent with communication as well. What really made it special was the hand written note I asked to be included for my friend. You could see the time and effort she put into the calligraphy to make the gift that much more special. It made all the difference

About

Doodler, Embroiderer, Cat Worshiper

Hello, I'm Sarah. I'm a 32-year-old Midwesterner with a deep long love of creating and a dabbler in all-things-art. Throughout my childhood, I took art classes in school and spent a lot of time doodling or painting in my room (and, admittedly, in the margins of textbooks and notebooks, on the back of my hand, and even on my walls). In college, I majored in art history and adored my studio art courses, particularly design, painting, and fibers.

After college, I had no clue what I wanted to do, or be, so I moved to Philadelphia for graduate school and earned my master's in Writing Studies with a poetry concentration. Although I had shifted my academic focus from modern art to contemporary poetry, I never stopped drawing and sewing in that time. After three years on the east coast, my husband and I moved back to Missouri. We bought our first house and I finally had my own room for a studio and plenty of wall space to decorate, so I started blogging about my artistic adventures. That's when all my family, friends, and followers said "you should start an etsy shop!" ....and so I did.

I settled on "Sometimes I Swirl" for my shop name because that's what happens when I draw. Unplanned, flowing swirl designs just come out. Also because I gravitate toward symmetrical abstract designs, natural elements and mehndi, these influences come up quite often in my own work.

Now with a full-time day job, I create at home on week nights and on the weekends. Although I technically still have an office/studio in my house (ack, it's messy 100% of the time), I often rotate the spots where I sew and draw... and my two trusty cat assistants follow whenever I go.

I'm very much an introvert and require lots of alone time for drawing, sewing, listening to music, sketching, thinking, and reading. I love learning new things on my own and trying new artistic ventures, and I'll experiment with any medium I can get my hands on.

You should also know that I fiercely love Paul Klee, surrealism, any type of DIY project, watercolors, contemporary quilts, my hometown of St. Louis, and craft beer. :)

On to the swirls, shall we? http://www.etsy.com/shop/sometimesiswirl

Hello and welcome!
My name is Sarah Hennessey. I am your normal 30-something professional by day, artist by night. Many times I’ll set out with a blank piece of paper and a stack of art pens, with no idea what will turn up until those pens get moving across the page. Lots of swirls tend to ensue… same goes for the embroideries!

Payment
I accept debit and credit card charges through either Paypal or Etsy's Direct Checkout. I also accept e-checks through Paypal
(IMPORTANT NOTE: You don’t need a Pay Pal account to purchase items through the Paypal payment option. After you click the “Pay Now” button on your order, you simply scroll down and you’ll see the option to pay with a credit or debit card without having to sign up for an account.) I also accept Etsy gift cards.

I do not currently accept checks or money orders, although if you have a special need, please convo or email me.
Shipping
All drawings and prints are carefully placed in an archival clear protective sleeve that seals, then shipped inside a rigid cardboard mailer envelope with an additional piece of recycled cardboard for extra reinforcement.

Prompt shipment is very important to me, so if you're having your item(s) sent to a US address, I guarantee to send off your item(s) by the next business day once your payment clears. If I am shipping internationally, please allow 2-3 days to get your item to the post office and mailed off with the proper customs form.

Unless otherwise requested, I use USPS first-class mail with tracking and delivery confirmation for all shipments within the United States. Customers can request faster shipping or insurance for an additional charge, simply contact me for more information.

For international orders, I use USPS First-Class International, and these orders tend to arrive within 5-12 business days from the date I ship them. However, please note that customs can delay packages by up to 6 weeks, and although this does not happen often, it could be a possibility.

Also, on all international orders, I refund whatever amount is not spent on shipping. So let's say you pay $12 USD in shipping, but postage only ends up costing $7.20 USD, then I refund $4.80 USD back to you.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ON INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: All international buyers are responsible for paying any potential customs fees, taxes, tariffs, etc., on items being shipped to them. If you are unsure of your country's duty tax limits or policies, please contact your local postal service before ordering. In addition, I am unable to mark merchandise as "gift" on a customs form, as this constitutes Customs Fraud, is a Federal offense, and is punishable by U.S. Law (please read 19 USC § 1592 - PENALTIES FOR FRAUD, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, AND NEGLIGENCE for more information on this: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/granule/USCODE-2010-title19/USCODE-2010-title19-chap4-subtitleIII-partV-sec1592/content-detail.html). Similarly, I am unable to falsify or lower the item's retail value on the customs form as well.

Shipping times within the U.S. vary depending on your distance from Missouri. Midwestern states typically take 1-2 days, whereas the East and West coasts can take 2-4 business days.

I ship to the address that's provided at checkout. If you would like your purchase(s) sent to a different address, please note this in the comments of your transaction, or convo me before you place an order.

Also, once I ship an item within the U.S., I will update the "shipped" box on your purchase, and you will receive a shipment notification through either Etsy or Paypal containing your package's tracking number.

If your package gets lost or is not delivered within a reasonable time frame, please contact me and we can figure out a solution together.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will handle refunds and exchanges on a case by case basis. But I certainly want to be sure you are happy with your purchase!
