This tile is just precious and ready to hang. I purchased several to give as gifts. They are so tiny, you can hang them anywhere.

About

My Story

I grew up in a pottery making family. My mother began as a potter when I was just a baby and I have been working with clay and firing kilns since I was young. My Mother went back to school and received her Master's of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from the University of Minnesota and I received my Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design from Kansas State University.

In 1992, my Mother and I started a company called Fresh Fish Ceramic Tiles. The very first tiles we made were for her bathroom shower. They are 4x8" Sunfish tiles that are still there to this day. My parents have been showering with those sunfish for over 20 years!

We changed our business name in 2000 to SoMi Tileworks for the area in which we both live and work, South Minneapolis. We now offer over 600 tile designs and have made tiles for thousands of homes all across the United States and a couple homes in Canada. We have worked on tile projects for many hospitals and restaurants as well.

My Mom is now retired from the tile making business but continues to make wonderful things. She works as a painter and sculptor at the moment, but has dabbled in almost every kind of art form. I am continuing on in the tile business and hope to create tile for thousands more homes and business around the world.

Shop policies

My tiles are handmade and are suitable for installation in a tile project in a kitchen, bathroom, fireplace or outdoors. I use a stoneware clay and fire to 2100 degrees which makes our tiles freeze proof through the coldest winters. Our mosaics can also be hung indoor or outdoors all year. I work hard on recycling all my clay scrapes, mixing and reusing them to create more tiles. I can make custom designs and if your interested in tiling your whole kitchen backsplash, I also offer plain field tile made to order. Please contact me for more info and to discuss your project.

Payment
I accept paypal payments, checks, money orders, Mastercard, Visa, Discover or American Express. If you would like to cancel an order, it must be done so within 48 hours. Once the order is in production it cannot be cancelled. I would like to work with you to remedy the situation, so please contact me as soon as possible.
Shipping
I make each tile to order. This takes a little bit of time. Smaller tiles and smaller orders I can get done between 1-3 weeks. Larger orders may take a bit longer. It may also depend on the season, generally 2-4 weeks. If you need your order by a certain date, please let me know.

Smaller orders and smaller tiles I will usually ship by priority mail which will take about 2-3 shipping days. I will contact you to let you know when your order ships. Larger tiles and larger orders will ship with FedEx Ground which takes about 2-4 days depending on your location.

I pack all tiles very well with peanuts and bubble wrap. I recycle packing materials as much as I can unless they are unusable. Shipping insurance on all items is included in my shipping costs. If for some reason an item arrives damaged or broken, please save all shipping material and contact me right away. I will file a claim and get a new item out to you as soon as possible. A photo of the damaged item may be required. If an item is lost in shipping, a claim must also be filed for that. I will work on finding the item or replacing the item for you.

I will ship to Canada and overseas, but will need to calculate the shipping cost before you purchase. Please contact me and I can set up a custom item with the correct shipping.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will exchange an item for you within 2 weeks after you receive the item. Please contact me immediately if you would like to exchange an item. Custom orders cannot be returned or exchanged. If an item is damaged in shipping, a claim must be filed and I will make a new item. If an item arrives and is unsatisfactory, please contact me so that we can remedy the situation. I want you to love the items you receive and be happy with your purchase.
Additional policies and FAQs
I can make custom orders. Please contact me about your project to see if it would be a good fit.
