Welcome to my handmade jewellery shop!
**Free Worldwide Shipping!**
I love vintage style, colour, birds and beads, particularly artisan-made beads.....The majority of my pieces are one of a kind (ooak) as I use a great deal of individually handcrafted art beads, sourced from all over the world - right here on Etsy! And if you've seen something at a craft market and can't find it here, please contact me! It is probably just waiting to be listed and I can create a reserved listing for you. Right now, I’m not taking on most custom orders - the exception being if you want a coordinating bracelet or pair of earrings etc to go with an already existing piece. Apologies for any disappointment but my working hours are extremely limited and custom work is very time consuming.
**Unfortunately, customs restrictions currently prohibit me from shipping jewellery to New Zealand and Cyrpus. Apologies! I am hoping this is something that will be changed in the future.**

Narrative, colourful, one-of-a-kind handmade jewellery
I am a jewellery designer and creator from the UK - I live on the north coast of Edinburgh in Scotland, having returned here 6 years ago after living in England and beautiful Northern Ireland. I have been making jewellery since I was a little girl and young enough to thread beads. My Grandma and Mum both passed on a great love of crafting and creating from a young age. I started bead weaving when a teenager and during the past 10 years have expanded my repertoire to include wire work, bead embroidery and a little metal work. I love to incorporate fibres and cords into my work and work with a variety of beads - gemstones, vintage, czech glass, handmade. One thing you can be sure of though is that all the beads and components I use are always of a high quality - many sourced right here on etsy! My designs tend to be one of a kind and I adore colour, birds, circles, keys, flowers, secrets, stories and magic. I hope I can pass on my creative passion to my own children - twins born in 2017.
My real passion lies with handmade art beads. Art beads are individually hand crafted beads, made by highly skilled artisans. When I create or select an art bead, I know that I am using either a one of a kind piece, or one that has been part of a small batch of beads. I know that the jewellery I create will, in turn, be an individual piece of art, which tells its own story with the pieces it is built from – be that a raku ceramic house from Finland, a handcast pewter bird from New York, or a hand torched glass focal from Edinburgh. I find these miniature pieces of art inspirational – I hope you do too! These handmade elements also add to the unique and individual character that my jewellery has.
I was lucky enough to have been a contributor to Art Bead Scene between 2011 and 2016 - a fabulous blog filled with post after post of beautiful inspiration. I taught classes in beading since 2007 at The Bead Shop, Manchester until 2013 when I moved to Ireland, and been published in several beading magazines since 2009. I was a regular contributor to Beads and Beyond, a beautiful jewellery design publication which sadly closed in 2015. The name Songbead came about from my two professions - as well as a jeweller, I am a classical singer. I feel very fortunate to live a life filled with art and music.

Returns and exchange details
If for any reason you are not 100% happy with your jewellery, the same applies, *apart from earrings* which are non-returnable unless damaged/faulty due to hygiene. Regardless of whether the jewellery you buy is at fault or not, you as the buyer have a 14-day (from point of receiving the goods) no questions asked cancellation and return option. If you have simply changed your mind i.e. the goods are not at fault then I will issue a full-refund minus the return postage cost as per my legal obligation to Customer Contract Regulations. (Postage costs will be similar to my own shipping costs, but as post offices charge by weight and size, and charges vary from country to country they may vary slightly.) If the goods are damaged/at fault, I will refund postage and cover return postage as well. This returns policy does not apply to any custom-made orders i.e. specially made jewellery made at your request. Under special circumstances, it may be possible to return these for store credit, again, minus postage costs. It DOES apply to made-to-order items already listed within the shop i.e. these may be returned for a refund. Please request a free proof of postage from the post office and send back via first class standard post within 14 days of the package reaching you. Please ensure correct postage is paid - I am not liable to pay fees to pick up from the post office for unpaid postage. Please ensure package is adequately and securely packaged. If you have a customs label to fill in, as you are returning goods, please mark value as nil.
If you do wish to cancel an order, please contact me here on etsy or via email on songbead [!at] me.com. Alternatively, you may download this cancellation form:

and use it instead.

Shipping
I ship within 5 working days currently, and usually the day after your order, unless an item it made-to-order (see individual listings for shipping times in this instance). If for any reason I am unable to ship a ready-to-wear item within 5 days, I will let you know. Your jewellery will come gift boxed or in a handmade muslin bag.
Countries I am regrettably prohibited to ship to from the UK: New Zealand and Cyprus. Sincere apologies! Customs regulations currently prohibit jewellery from being shipped to your countries. If you accidentally purchase from me from one of these countries, I will process a full refund for you. Let's hope the regulations change!
International orders (I am shipping from the UK) usually take 1-3 weeks to reach their destination, but can take longer (up to 5 weeks) due to the recipient customer's country's customs and our respective postal services. I do not include international tracking unless specifically requested - please contact me if you would like this option and I will set up a custom shipping listing. Please note, this is measured (by the PO) on both value AND weight, and usually cost between £9 and £16. Rest assured that you are fully covered by myself and Etsy when purchasing with me - this is my own customer service policy, as well as EU distance-selling law.

Coupon Codes
From time to time, I have coupon code sales in my shop. Look out for them on my blog and facebook pages!
http://songbeads.blogspot.co.uk/
http://www.facebook.com/Songbead
Unfortunately, because of the way these work on etsy, I am unable to refund the difference retrospectively, so make sure you pop your coupon code in the correct box at the checkout! If you have any issues then please do contact me and I will assist you with applying codes - and keep your eyes peeled for these juicy discounts!
Coupon codes are not valid for custom or reserved orders unless clearly specified.
Restringing and Lengthening Jewellery
I make bespoke jewellery - mainly one of a kind pieces, designed for one of a kind you. When you are buying online, it is important to ensure you are buying jewellery that will fit you perfectly. I always list the length/diameter of my jewellery (and if for some reason I have managed to miss a length off, please message me and I will fix that asap!) so that you can be sure if a piece is right for you. If the length isn't the correct fit for you, I am very happy to alter this before sending your jewellery out, in most cases (sometimes, it's just not possible due to the design/components). Sometimes this will mean adding a few more beads or links, sometimes it will mean restringing the entire piece. At the moment I am happy to undertake minor re-sizing and alterations at no extra cost. But in the case of restringing (rather than simply adding extra links), I do require that the purchase is made prior to my taking the work apart. If your piece requires more drastic resizing or altering - adding more than a couple of inches to a bead necklace for example, or exchanging a clasp from base to precious metal - then there will be a cost involved. Thank you for your understanding!
My usual lead time on postage is 1-5 working days but altering a piece (or selecting a made-to-order piece) will add on an extra 1-5 working days to this.
