Shop policies

Last updated on March 16, 2011
Welcome to Souldier’s policies! Here is where you can get the gist of exactly how I roll on the business end of my shop. I like to think of my shop as a backwards mullet – “party up front, business in the back” – I really have fun doing what I do, but I also have to back it up with logical business practices and excellent customer service. Looking at all of the wonderful shops on Etsy can easily deter one from thinking of the business end of things that lie behind all of the great listed items. So take a read and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

*A brief history*
Souldier is an independent venture that came to be as a result of an excess of creative energy. I was that kid in school that would stay in and draw dinosaurs rather than going to recess… The kid who knew exactly what her calling was… I once told an audience at the age of four that when I grew up I was going to be an artist. Keeping true with my childhood predictions, I am a university student with a major in visual art and a minor in theatre production. Although my goal is to become a teacher, I will never cease to be an artist. Creation runs in my blood and, well… there ain’t no changin’ what runs in your blood!

*My creative process*
I create what I know and what I know is what I study at school, my pets, and my surroundings. Blend that with a high dose of imagination and you’ve got yourself a Souldier item! My items are a product of my environment and there really isn’t more to my creative process than that!

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
I take great pride in my craftsmanship and would never sell an item that I would not consider to be of quality. Also I craft all my items with durability and usability in mind. I photograph and describe my pieces fully and accurately for each listing. The item you have purchased is the item you will receive. I also take great pride in having excellent customer service and if you ever have an issue with the item you have purchased do not hesitate to contact me - we’ll work things out together! All returns/exchanges are handled and warranted on a case by case basis.

I also carefully package each item before it is shipped and double check to ensure that addresses are legible and free of errors. If you have purchased an item that has been sent to you via Small Packet Air that has either not arrived or that has arrived damaged I can refund you up to $100. Items shipped via Light Packet or regular mail have no insurance and unless you request it, I cannot provide a refund for lost or damaged items due to the neglect of the post. Please keep this in mind if you purchase an item which does not include shipping insurance (it will be mentioned in the listing under *Shipping*). You always have the option of requesting to have your insured. Just ask!
Currently, I only accept payments via Paypal. If you need some technical help with Paypal I am more than willing to lend a hand! Don’t be afraid to ask.

All payments are required to be made within 3 days of the initial purchase. If payment has not been made within this allotted time frame, the sale will be canceled and the item will be re-listed.

Interested in layaway? I am willing to work out a layaway plan with my customers. If you are interested in putting an item, or several, on layaway don’t hesitate to contact me! I require an initial 25% down of the total of the item(s) which is non-refundable.
If you would like your item shipped to you express or have any special shipping requests don't hesitate to send me a message letting me know prior to your purchase. I am more than willing to accommodate your shipping needs!

Under *Shipping* in each of my listings you will find a description of how your item is shipped and whether it includes insurance. You can always request different shipping methods.

I also gladly offer combined shipping. I just prefer to wait till I know exactly what you will be purchasing so that I can package it and calculate a proper and correct rate for you. If you have purchased several items from my shop, I will automatically calculate a combined shipping rate for you, and refund the surcharge to your Paypal account.

As most of my items are shipped Small Packet Air (anything over 2cm in thickness), they do include insurance for up to $100 CAD. Small Packet does not come with a tracking number.

If you have purchased multiple items and would like additional insurance or a tracking number let me know and I will calculate a new rate through Canada Post to fit your needs.

Items under 2cm are shipped Light Packet and do not come with insurance. If you would like your Light Packet item bumped up to Small Packet Air, let me know.

Usually your item gets shipped the day after the sale and often even on the day of the sale unless it is on a weekend (our post offices are closed on weekends) – otherwise please allow up to 3 business days for your item to be shipped.

Custom Orders must be completed before they are shipped and a time frame/deadline will be discussed with the buyer before hand.

Jewelry/trinkets over 2cm come in hand-made gift boxes and are shipped in bubble mailers to ensure a safe delivery.
Flat jewelry/trinkets under 2cm are put in beautiful little organza bags and packaged with care in bubble mailers.
All other items too large to fit in bubble mailers are wrapped and packed safely in boxes.

As soon as I ship your item, I notify you via an Etsy conversation to let you know as well as to give you a time frame in which you can expect your item to arrive.

If by any chance you are overcharged for shipping, I will refund the surcharge back to your Paypal account.

I ship all of my items in the most cost-effective way in which I can and all items are shipped via Canada Post. I also ensure that all items are packaged in such a way as to ensure a safe delivery to my customers. Shipping rates are calculated according to the package’s final dimension/weight and the cost of shipping materials. I do not charge a handling fee or the cost of my gas to drive to the post.

Additional policies and FAQs
*My working environment*
My entire home is SMOKE FREE. I do have pets, but I they are not allowed in my studio. I always scan my items before they go out, regardless.

*Custom orders and Alchemy requests*
If you are interested in something a bit more personal, or are looking for a particular color scheme let me know! I am more than willing to do custom work.
Prices will be discussed before-hand and must be paid in full before I begin working on your item. Also a time-frame in which the item must be completed and shipped will be determined by myself and the buyer prior to beginning work on the item.

*Custom/Duty Fees*
Be aware of any customs, duties, and/or brokerage fees that are in effect in your country of residence. Please be advised that it is your responsibility as a buyer to cover these fees.

I always leave feedback for my customers! Most often feedback is left within 3 days of your initial purchase. If the item you are purchasing is a gift, let me know and I can leave feedback after it has been given in order to keep a surprise just that; a surprise!

*How I price my items*
The price of each item is determined by how much it has cost me to purchase the materials as well as the time involved in crafting the item - therefore prices vary for each individual item.

*Contact info*
I can be contacted either via Etsy, or via e-mail.
I check my e-mail on a daily basis and Etsy sends me e-mail notifications of conversations.
