Beautifully crafted and strongly built lap table, great for a variety of uses and easy to move around from room to room. We have mostly been using to prop up our lap top for movies in bed and easing posture during brief work stints on the couch. Great service and communication from Sean, as well.

This product was beautifully made and I love that it is a smaller size so it is easy to store.

I’m obsessed with this. The copper and wood look beautiful together. Plus, the piece is light, but sturdy so I can move it around and use it with no problem. Everyone who has seen it thinks it’s amazing- because it is. Enough room to eat, put my laptop, or place a book.

About

Sean Desiree independently designs and creates artful, hand crafted furniture. It began with the desire to own a farm table and a drive to create one by hand, which led to the founding of South End Pallet Works, based in Albany NY. Sean’s self-reliance and resourcefulness pushed them to learn the craft of woodworking through using the resources at their fingertips - watching YouTube videos. From the very first table 5 years ago, their love of making and reusing materials has grown into a full on passion. In an effort to reduce the amount of usable materials that get sent to landfills Sean works exclusively with reclaimed wood and nontoxic finishes. Moving into a more focused, formal training and practice, they have honed their skills and will launch their debut collection QUILTS in summer 2019.

Quilts

The idea for this collection came from researching textiles made by African-Americans during enslavement and beyond. The women of Gee’s Bend — a small, remote, Black community in Alabama - created magnificent quilts starting in the 1920s. It’s a series that pays tribute to their proud traditions, but expands beyond that singular focus. Desiree’s tables are composed of bold, improvisational arrangements, with intention to transform wood into functional abstract art. Creating quilts helped the women of Gee’s Bend survive financially and spiritually throughout consistent discrimination. The QUILTS collection satisfies the same needs within Desiree’s life.
