It's time to start decorating for Christmas!!!!! green_heartheart

Almost done with this #instawallquilt I'm working on and I can't STOP staring at this beautiful baby. green_heart
I have this quilt in two different sizes.
Use coupon code 'ThankYouSale' for 10% off now through Monday.
Things I did today:
scrubbed my oven clean, repaired and bound this quilt, watched Harry Potter while taking a bubble bath (super fan), & got caught by one of my kids hiding snacks in one of my secret places.
Raise your hand if you hide snacks too! raising_handskin-tone-2

About

WeLcoMe!

A B O U T

There is a song by 'The head and the heart' with the line, "I wish I was a slave to an age old trade." And this is exactly what I want and how I feel.

The process of making a quilt is long and sometimes grueling. It's old fashioned because my grandmother and great grandmother used to make them, but it's modern too. I have tools and shortcuts that they didn't have and a vast amount of fabrics that they would never had access to.

My love of quilts runs deep. It's not one thing about them, it's all the things.

It's putting colors together and the feeling of knowing when it feels right. It's finding a fabric that makes you squeal. It's seeing a design in your head and figuring out how to make it come to life. It's the constant repetivenss of cutting, stitching, pressing and then stitching again.

And then you have this finished treasure, this practical and PURPOSE FILLED quilt that will brighten up any space you place it in and bring warmth to any who lie under it. A quilt has so very many uses. What else besides a quilt can keep you warm, bring comfort to a friend, have a picnic on, wrap a baby in, decorate a home with, display as art, wash and dry, and then one day hand down to your family for them to do the same with?

I love quilts. I love to buy them. I love to make them. I love to bury myself up under them. Making them gives me purpose. It's MY age old trade.

All of my quilts are made to be used. Please don't store them unloved in a closet. Love them and then wash and dry them. They get cozier and softer everytime you do.

Every quilt of mine is made by my own two hands, one at a time. I work on a Bernina 550 quilters edition machine. I use almost exclusively cotton fabrics, cotton thread and cotton batting.

I live in north Alabama with my husband and two children. I have a home studio dedicated to my love of making quilts. In my spare time I like to crochet, read and travel.

Southern Charm Quilts is my family's bread and butter, so thank you so very much for supporting me and my little shop. Every single purchase helps keep a roof over our heads and food in our mouths. You are not giving more of your money to big business when you have me make a quilt for you. You are contributing to our home, health and happiness. You are giving me the chance to make a living doing something that I love and am very passionate about. I do a little happy dance with every quilt you buy. Thank you!

WHO I AM
My name is Melanie and I am from Alabama. All my items are created in my clean, smoke free home studio by me. I take great care to attention and detail. Everything is made on a small scale. I do not hire anyone to help me...therefore you are getting a real custom handmade item from the deep, deep south.

CONTACT
You can reach me within Etsy here http://www.etsy.com/convo_new.php?to_username=southerncharmquilts
or email me at mel.tray [!at] gmail.com

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Buy with Apple Pay
  • Pay with Sofort
  • Pay with iDeal
  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I use PayPal or Etsy direct checkout for all transactions.

Alabama residents will be charged sales tax. So sorry, neighbors, I hate this too.
Shipping
Within the US, I ship all my items with the United States Postal Service, mostly using First Class, Parcel Post, and Priority Mail, depending on size, weight and price. NO other shipping methods will be used. If you have preference about shipping methods or would like to have insurance added, please let me know that you would like that and are willing to pay for it.

For international shipments, I ship items with United States Postal Service with Priority Mail only. It is your responsibility to know of any duties or taxes on imported goods. They will be at your own expense.

Once your item has shipped you will receive an email from Etsy with your delivery confirmation number/tracking number.

We are not responsible for replacing or refunding if a package is not located at the delivered location after delivery was confirmed by USPS. If USPS says they delivered your package, they delivered your package.

If your shipment has been lost 30 days in US, 60 days for international, you will be given store credit. Tracking will need to show 'undelivered'.

I recycle my shipping supplies as much as possible and occasionally you will get a package in a box that has been used before.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do NOT accept refunds on made to order or custom orders. Not knowing that you purchased a made to order item will not be an excuse as this info is located in each and every description. Please note that etsy puts '1 available' in each of the listings. This does not constitute a ready to ship item. Read my description to know for sure what you are buying.

If you are unhappy with an item that you purchased from me that is not a custom or made to order, please contact me within 10 days of receipt of item for a refund or exchange. Item will need to be returned immediately (within 10 days), I do not refund shipping costs going to or from, but I will refund the purchase price or exchange the item as soon as I have the item returned and in its original state.

All sizes are approximate and can sometimes be off a little. This is due to the 100% cotton and sometimes the quilting. I cannot guarantee exact measurements. If the measurements of your quilt are off more than 5 inches on at least one side (not combined sides) from size stated in description I will be happy to correct this error.

When you place an order that items can be customized, please give me details for those orders, such as fabric choices or placement, quilt backs or any other decisions that can be made. If you fail to give me details, I WILL take creative freedom with your order. I will NOT track you down for decisions or email you to ask you questions. I will assume that you do not have a preference and use my own judgement. You will NOT be able to return this item or refund just because you don't like the decision I made.

If you have purchased a:
memory quilt
guest book quilt
message block
custom quilt
quilt on a payment plan
and never gave me details or other necessities for me to be able to complete your order you will only be able to get a refund for up to 60 days from purchase date. After that you can only be given store credit. PLEASE NOTE that these are orders where I did not receive what I needed from you to complete your order and not any other type of order.
Additional policies and FAQs
MATERIALS
On the inside of all my quilts is a layer of all natural 100% cotton batting. The finest available. With the exception of my minky dot quilts, on the backs of all my quilts unless otherwise stated is an all natural 100% cotton muslin. Read more about it here https://southerncharmquiltblog.wordpress.com/2014/11/20/all-about-the-muslin/

PAYMENT PLANS
If you need to make payments like a layaway on your order that is fine. How it works is this: You will make your first payment, however much you'd like it to be and the shipping. Your order will have the current estimated completion date. You will then make payments at your convenience and just send me an email when you are ready to make a payment. If your total balance is paid off by the time your estimated ship date is here your order will go out as scheduled. If not, then then another estimated ship date is given for current production time. If you change your mind after you begin the payment plan, no refund will be given, only store credit.

You can read more about my payment plans in detail here
https://southerncharmquiltblog.wordpress.com/2013/08/01/the-payment-plan/

PRODUCTION TIME
Items are made to order unless otherwise stated in the listing. My production time varies from time to time, but I always keep it listed in my shop announcement on the homepage of my shop. You may have to click the 'read more' tab to view it. If you have purchased a MADE TO ORDER item and wish to know when you will receive it you can view my TO DO LIST here https://southerncharmquiltblog.wordpress.com/made-to-ordercustom-schedule/

CUSTOM ORDERS
I frequently take custom orders, so dont be hesitant to contact me with yours.

CARE FOR YOUR ITEM
All quilts are machine washable. All items are machine washable with the exception of crib bumpers. Crib bumpers need to be spot cleaned only. If you must wash them, you will have to iron to get flat again.

WEDDING QUILTS & MEMORY QUILTS
If you purchase a wedding or memory quilt from me and never send me the supplies to create the purchase you made your order will be moved out every 60 days until you do send the supplies. If after two years, I still not have been sent supplies, I will remove your name and order from my schedule (just to keep me from having to constantly move it) and close your order out.

You can still eventually send the supplies and I will make your quilt, but you will not be put on the schedule until you actually do.

Please do not take this as a rush. It is not. It is just to keep my workload straight and to keep me from wasting time looking for your order every month.

If you no longer have the supplies for me to complete your purchase:
before two years, you can still receive store credit.
after two years, you can not.
