5 out of 5 starsThis was perfect for a small 3-4 foot Christmas tree. It came really quickly and the quality was very good. Only thing that surprised me was there weren’t any ties or clips or fasteners to keep it together at the seam. But it didn’t make a difference it stayed together and laid down nicely.

5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely beautiful! My daughter-in-law loved the stockings. They were perfect with the dog bone stocking I purchased from another Etsy shop. I think I will be replacing our stocking with new one's from South House Boutique!

About SouthHouseBoutique
The Irony (and Lesson) of South House Boutique
Every story worth telling has a backstory, a dilemma, and a resolution. If it’s a good story, it contains a bit of irony and a good lesson. Here is the short story of South House Boutique.
The Irony: For years I have preached to my children, “Be true to who you are, don’t try to remake yourself to please others; you will be happier and true friends will gravitate to you in abundance.” But, I wasn’t following my own advice.
The Backstory: 24 years ago, I founded South House Designs as my exit strategy from the Corporate Jungle, allowing me to be a stay-at-home mom and supplement my dear Hubby’s teaching salary.
The Dilemma: I was still entwined in the Corporate Jungle; I designed sewn textile products for retailers nationwide, and in most cases contracted for the production of these products. It fed the children, but slowly ate away at my creative soul.
The Resolution: South House Boutique. I thought my Etsy boutique would be a quirky little sidebar to my larger story; a playground for me to experiment with techniques and materials to create products that come from my heart without the concern for “sale-ability” and “market reach.” Lo and behold, my quirky Etsy playground is not only feeding my soul and creative spirit, but also feeding the kids. I am the happiest I have ever been and enjoying many, many new customers and creative peers.
Staying true to myself, I gravitate toward rich textiles full of character. For me, it’s always been about the textiles – I have always reached for a scarf instead of necklace, well, unless we’re talking pearls and that’s a whole other love affair. A handsome houndstooth, a floral linen, rustic burlap can all tug at my heartstrings; a fabulous pop of color can make me weak in the knees.
I’m a traditionalist, but a rebellious one. I adore timeless style with an unexpected twist, a modern punch, a wow factor. Nothing beats a solid balance of style, function and persnickety detailing. ……. And my customers agree.
The Lesson: Follow your heart, stay true to yourself. Oh yes, and be mindful what you preach to the kids.
And yes, some of the very best lessons come from the playground. South House Boutique is my playground, my sandbox, my happy place where I explore, play and flex some creative muscle. And like all good playgrounds it is So. Much. Fun.

Shipping
All Christmas stockings and can at times require up 2 weeks to ship. I try to keep the bottle bags, party sacks, and banners in stock for immediate shipping, but at times it could be a delay as well. If you are in need by a particular date, leave me that info in the "Notes to Seller" section.
All orders shipped to a Missouri address must add 7.25% sales tax.
Additional policies and FAQs
SIMPLIFIED ORDERING:
Each grouping has its own listings (10 groupings = 10 listings) rather than 63 listings (63 different stockings). When you are ready to order from a grouping, select which fabric combination you want from the drop down menu. Please note that the quantity is for that one fabric combination NOT for your total number of stockings. So if you want 5 different stockings, do NOT put 5 in as your quantity, specify 1 and one fabric combination, click "Add to Cart", then "Keep Shopping", then another 1 and your second fabric combination choice and so on.
Fewer listings means less for you to wade through to find the combination of stockings you want; it also means less pictures. So for one stop perusal of all my stockings, you can jump over to my website post [southhousedesigns.com/2018-Christms-Stockings/]- and then jump back to Etsy to purchase.
Of course feel free to pick and choose between groupings to build your own special set. There are no rules here.
NAME TAGS:
And how about those name tags? Oh, be still my heart! From the beginning, customers have been asking about personalizing my stockings. The amazingly gifted Jane Dolan is back for another year. Jane has samples of all of my fabrics and has designed tags specifically for them. Hop on over to her shop and pick out the name tags you want for my stockings - or any other needs. www.etsy.com/shop/SouthernCalligraphy?ref=ss_profile
SHIPPING:
As best I can, orders ship in the order they are placed.
Historically, as we get further into the season, the lead time will slip significantly. I will adjust the projected "processing time", so please check the bold "Ready to Ship In ..." announcement right above the shipping charges at the top of this page.
Yes, historically my stockings sell out. Last year, Vanilla & Cream was the first, and was sold out at the beginning of November. I had to cut off ALL stocking orders on November 18 for stockings to be received by Christmas - and some of those arrived very close to the big day.
Please do not wait!
CHARITY DRIVE:
“Stocking the Pantry” Drive:
2018 will be the 9th year that my stockings will be both for receiving goodies and for giving good as well.
You can read the full disclosure and past success of "Stocking the Pantry" on my website, SouthHouseDesigns.com
$2.50 from every stocking ordered by Dec. 31 is dedicated to helping our hungry. Part of my New Year's celebration is to total up all the sales and write the check. 2013 resulted in ... drumroll .... $3,307.50! It was matched by an anonymous donor and through Harvesters leveraging magic each $1 = 5 meals. So that year alone netted 33,075 meals for the hungry!
My theory: a dollar or two will not significantly impact my life or my customers, but if we pool all those "insignificant" dollars, we can truly make a positive impact on lives all around us. I hope you’ll join me in Stocking the Pantry, via South House Stockings.
RIGHT-POINTING TOE STYLE:
I grew up with left-pointing toes on our stockings. It's what I knew, so it's where I started. I've made 25,000+ stockings over the last 20+ years (mail-order catalogs and large retailers, and now Etsy). I prefer to think my "muscle memory" is too developed to change; rather than my "cranial memory" is too feeble to change.
It does not seem like a big deal to switch the direction. IT IS! Because the cuffs are not symmetrical, it starts at the cutting table as they have to be cut out reversed. To keep my prices at their affordable level, I have developed a very systematic process where I am never cutting just one at a time or stitching just one of a kind. I group all the pieces based on the color of thread, the machine tension, even the needle size for maximum efficiency.
Every year I have let one customer talk me into doing a right-pointing stocking and every year it's been torture for me. I apologize, but I just can't. It's not fair to the rest of the customers waiting on their orders to ship OR to my family :).
QUANTITY DISCOUNT:
As I tell everyone who asks, I price my stockings assuming they will be purchased for the most part in groups of at least 3 and very often 8 or 10, even as many as 18. My pricing does not allow for any discounting "cushion". Everyone gets the same price.
The only wiggle room I have in the pricing goes to help our hungry neighbors -- a $2.50 donation to Stocking the Pantry.
I hope you understand. I would be honored to make you some stockings and have you join me in our “Stocking the Pantry” effort, but I totally get it if you can't. No judgement here.
