About SouthpawPots

It all starts as a lump of mud on the potter's wheel. My hands, some tools, and water are added to make the shape.
-
Applying images. A third trip through the 2000*F kiln is needed to fuse the image into the glaze.

You use it. I'll make it.

A lifetime interest in art and a deeply inquisitive nature (curious cat) led me to modern, unconventional ways to put two-dimensional images on three-dimensional pots. This intersection of tradition and technology keeps me making more!

Frequently asked questions
How soon will I get my order?
Anything in stock is ready to ship & will go out USPS Priority the next day, so you can expect it to arrive within 3-5 days. I'll send you an update once it ships, with the tracking info included. PLEASE: contact me if it's urgent or for any special arrangements.
Custom orders will ship as soon as possible... once they are out of the kiln! :-)
What if it arrives broken?
If sadness happens, please send a picture immediately, and include the tracking number, plus lots of details-- this will help in making an insurance claim. We'll work out whatever is the best way to get another to you soonest! (So far so good, though I'm sure it will happen eventually-- hopefully you're not the 'lucky winner'... ha.)
Care instructions
It's fully-"functional" as in, you can use it. Please do!
● The clay and glaze is hard and durable; it's known as mid-fire stoneware. It really handles everyday life with ease.
● Eat off it, drink out of it, feed the cats and dogs and kids with it.
● Feel free to throw it in the microwave, dishwasher, even the freezer. **Handwashing is preferred, as over time the harsh dishwasher soaps and water etch the glaze, making it hazy.
● If tempted to use in the oven, start with a cold oven and room-temperature pottery. Always avoid temperature shocks: never, for example, place an ice-cold pottery dish in a hot oven. Disaster!
