A boldThank you., fun way to advocate peace!! Love the earrings too.
I love to design jewelry that is colorful, fresh and fun.
I'm an artist that graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, with a degree in visual communications. Before, I began making jewelry I used to oil paint and do illustrations. My days of jewelry designing began, when my mom bought me a jewelry making kit, from a local department store for my birthday. The kit contained all of the elements to fashion together, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. I fell in love with it! I got a lot of pieces of jewelry out of that kit, that I still have today. And that was the start of it! I was hooked! I started to buy more beads and other components at local craft and bead stores, and began making jewelry regularly. Then people, that I would pass on the street, started to notice my creations and I even sold a few pieces off of my neck! That's when I decided to take it to the next level and open my business.
There is a story behind my business name, Sparkle City Jewelry. Partly, it comes from my colorful and sparkly style of dress. Several years ago I went shopping with my mom, who is much more conservative in her style. That day we were shopping, I was wearing navy blue outfit that had gold sparkly stars all over it, gold shoes and a flashy gold purse. We were in a department store, walking past the cosmetics counter and this young girl, working behind the counter says to us very loudly "Well, look at this, one is SPARKLE CITY and the other's REAL PLAIN!" We both, just busted out laughing and to this day, we still laugh about it! When it came time to come up with a business name for my Etsy shop, I had tossed around many different names with family and friends, and just couldn't think of one that best represented me and my business. One day, I was talking about it with my mom and she said to me "I have it!" How about Sparkle City Jewelry?! And that was it! We both thought it was PERFECT!!!!
Since joining Etsy, my business has grown and continues to do so. In my shop, you will find beautiful gemstone and glass beaded designs, that I make from stones I carefully hand select. My policy is, if it isn't good enough for me, then it's not good enough for my customers! My resin designs, I hand pour from high quality resin, filled with candy, glitter and other colorful items, which results in a unique, whimsical and fun piece of jewelry.
Two of my designs, have been featured in two separate issues of Seventeen Magazine. Which are now sold in a local gift shop in Pittsburgh called Amalgamation Art. My candy charm necklace, has been featured in the 2013 August edition of Seventeen magazine, modeled by the Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande on page 94. Click the link below to view the necklace.
And my pink kitty charm bracelet, has been featured in the September, 2013 issue of Seventeen magazine on page 45. Click the link below to view the bracelet.
I've also been featured in an article for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the November 3, 2013 edition, about Etsy and Pittsburgh based sellers.
I'm happy to say that I'm a part of the Etsy community. Because of Etsy, my business is growing in many different ways.
