About SpoonieSisterShop

Designed FOR Spoonies, BY A Spoonie

Hi there, I’m Michelle of Spoonie Sister Shop! About 7 years ago, my life was slowly turned upside-down with the steady decline of my health. Now as a debilitated home-bound spoonie I hope to spread awareness of all chronic illnesses, and to support & empower fellow spoonies!

Along my chronic illness journey I have been diagnosed with Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS), renal Nutcracker Syndrome, May-Thurner Syndrome, Gastroparesis, Dysautonomia, Intracranial Hypotension, Hyperparathyroidism, GERD, and Cholecystitis.

Spoonie Sister Shop has been an incredible way to turn negative circumstances into something amazing! There are so many of us with different chronic illnesses – yet we are all united in our daily struggles, little victories, and overall health journeys. My ultimate hope is for Spoonie Sister Shop to help those with chronic illnesses feel understood, validated, and supported in their unique medical journeys!

It’s important to me to give back to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD®) because of my experiences with rare diseases. It took FAR too long for me to finally be diagnosed with multiple rare chronic illnesses, and I want to do everything in my power to help shorten that diagnosis journey for others. I attempt to work towards this goal by both spreading awareness, and donating 10% of shop proceeds every month to NORD® for rare disease advocacy + research.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about my little shop – and thank you SO much for supporting a small spoonie business! ❤️🥄

Sending love & spoons,
Michelle

Frequently asked questions
When will I get my order?

Current production time for stickers is 3-7 business days, and for everything else is 3-5 business days.

Then, standard US shipping time is typically an additional 3-5 business days. Express USPS shipping is 1-3 business days, and standard international shipping is typically 2-4 weeks.

However, Spoonie Sister Shop cannot guarantee shipping carrier timelines. There can be shipping carrier delays due to volume, bad weather, and situations that are beyond our control. We are unfortunately not able to update or change shipping methods or options once an order has shipped. Thank you for understanding!

I accidentally entered the wrong shipping address. Can it be changed?

Your shipping address can be changed only BEFORE it has been shipped. Please message me via Etsy conversations to correct your address ASAP and I’ll be happy to update it for you! :)

If your order has already been shipped, it is unfortunately too late and your address can NOT be changed. In this case, I suggest tracking your package closely and contacting your local post office to try to correct the address. You can file a claim with USPS here: https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm

How long do international orders take to be delivered?

International orders require the same standard production time (3-7 business days). Then, for stickers, transit times of orders going to Europe is typically 2-7 business days.

For all other items, shipping can take up to 30 days. Typically, international shipping takes 2-4 weeks.

Custom and personalized orders

Custom and personalized orders are temporarily unavailable due to Michelle’s surgery/recovery! After her estimated 2-4 week recovery period (March 6th to April 3rd-ish), custom and personalized orders will be available again! Check the “shop announcements” section and Instagram @SpoonieSisterShop for the latest updates regarding custom and personalized orders 💛

What is a “spoonie”?

A “spoonie” is an endearing term for someone with chronic illness(es)! It comes from a blog post called “The Spoon Theory” written by Christine Miserandino, in which she describes what it’s like to live with chronic illness to a friend. Basically spoons = energy, and a spoonie is someone who has a limited amount of spoons (energy) to spend per day. You can google “the spoon theory” to learn more! :)
