About

Silverware jewelry; A continuation of history, a celebtration of the past, and a feeling that those we love will stay close to us forever.

My name is Caroline, :) I live in Toronto, and have for most of my life. I did spend one year living in Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, but ultimately, home proved to strong a lure to ignore, and I moved back.

I've always worked in restaurants, like from the time I was 16! I started as a hostess, worked my way through the ranks, and ultimately, became a General Manager. I've run nightclubs, run the food and beverage program at golf courses, and run a variety of high profile, high volume restaurants, including the Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood, Wayne Gretzky's, and ending with a restaurant called the Keg Mansion.

I have to say I think the Mansion is where I first began noticing antiques in a different way. The building was built in 1856, and was, and is, chuck full of history, with brilliantly beautiful architecture, and just so much character! It has a long and storied past as well, including many ghost sightings, to which I can personally attest!

But after over 30 years in the restaurant business, I longed to give my creative side a chance to flourish, and stepped away from corporate life.
For the last four years I have been doing Arts and Craft shows around Ontario. These have taught a lot about my clientele, and about what's important to them. I've learned that they like pieces that are light/ not too heavy, that have large butterfly clasps on the chains that undo easily, and ultimately that resonate with them by reminding them of their past, or of a cherished family member.

What this has done for me is make me realise that inanimate objects can carry with them stories from the past. Every time I pick up a piece of silverware, I ask myself who held it before me? What was their life like?

When I was young, my grandmother gave me an exquisite, delicate, fork, knife, and spoon set. The handles are a dreamy blue and delicate green floral enamel, and the silver is elaborately and elegantly patterned. They have a candlelit glamour that I love! I immediately knew I would treasure them forever. When I look at the silverware she used, I can feel the love she put into setting the table, preparing meals for us, and making each of us feel special.
It is this feeling that I want to create with my pendants. A continuation of history, a celebration of the past, and a feeling that those we love will stay close to us forever.
