Spriggly's Story

Spriggly’s Beescaping is a new small business located in Waynesville, North Carolina that offers workshops, products, and services to create environments that support beneficial pollinators. Husband and wife team, Brannen Basham and Jill Jacobs, a young couple who relocated to the region from the Philadelphia area in June 2016 started the business. Spriggly’s puts a special focus on supporting the 4,000 species of native bees located in the United States and Canada alone. They offer affordable, low-maintenance solutions that any gardener can implement to support native pollinators and increase production in their garden or farm. In addition, Spriggly’s provides a series of educational opportunities for individuals, community groups, educational institutions, and K-12 students. These opportunities include on-site workshops, installations, lectures, and more. Spriggly’s sells Native Bee Cabins as well as education kits that can be ordered nationwide.

Beyond opportunities for the general public and educational institutions, Spriggly’s Beescaping works with businesses, farmers, towns and cities to create educational pollinator exhibits and gardens that help to re-establish habitat that has been lost due to urbanization. Spriggly’s exhibits include a series of “Native Bee Cabins” that are educational, resourceful, and functional, providing home-sites for native bees.

Spriggly’s Beescaping uses reclaimed and recycled wood whenever possible; only our wooden inserts sometimes utilized purchased wood to ensure they have been heat treated.
