Announcement   Fashion Meets Re-use
Rumpelsilkskin hats, bags and neckwear begin with repurposed neckties. To these gorgeous fabrics I add bits of vintage veiling, jewelry, buttons, and trims. I also reuse textiles and found objects. I love creating these accessories because they are fun and fabulous plus planet-friendly.
I have many more not listed and can create something custom too. Just contact me through Etsy if you have questions.

What a fabulous accessory...unique, fun, well made, and great to look at. The little buttons are so special and perfect on the tie. I just love everything about it. Thanks so much Spring!!!

About

Creative Reuse: Neckties Transform into Hats, Bags, Collars and More

Forced into a career change due to the 2009 budget cuts, I had to repurpose myself and find and new direction. Sewing has always been a love of mine as well as fabric and color. Combined with my new desire to be sustainable I started designing wearable artworks made from upcycled, vintage and reused materials. The pieces are fun, unique and glamorous. Most of the neckties I use are silk though some are vintage polyester, cotton, wool, rayon, and sometimes acetate. Other materials I like to use are pieces of vintage jewelry and trims, antique buttons, repurposed leather and fabric, vintage silk veil, upcycled belts, and thread (pretty much the only new material.)

My work is to honor the magnificent Mother Nature. I do this by reusing materials that would otherwise be forgotten or thrown away and turning them into beautiful and useful objects.

Refunds and Exchanges
I realize that is hard to judge if a hat or wearable will fit right from a picture so I will happily refund your purchase price for up to two weeks provided the item is returned unused and undamaged. The shipping is up to the customer both ways.

Rumpelsilkskin products are mostly made from repurposed materials that have already had a life so some loose threads and worn spots (mostly all on the underneath side) may be seen.
