About

Second Generation Antique Jewelry Afficionado

I picked up my fascination with antique jewelry from my grandmother. She lived in the UK for a short period in the 30's and during that time amassed a wonderful collection of old English jewelry, some of which I inherited when I was a teenager. These items seemed to me at the time to be imbued with a beauty and magic impossible to find elsewhere in my life. I love all the history and symbolism contained in each piece. This shop gives me the opportunity (ok, excuse!) to go out and look at many wonderful artifacts and then share my finds with other jewelry lovers here on Etsy. When I got out to look for pieces for the shop I always feel like I’m on a treasure hunt!

Payment
I offer layaway in some circumstances - please convo me for details and include info on which piece you're interested in purchasing, and regarding how many payments at what amount you would like to make. I will write you back and let you know what's possible.
Shipping
Items are shipped via first class or priority mail. I ship all items over $100 with insurance included in the shipping price. If you want to get express shipping, add insurance to an item under $100, add a Certificate of Mailing, Certified Mail, or Delivery Confirmation, please contact me. You can look on usps.com for pricing information to get an idea of what the additional cost will be.

If you want an international item shipped without insurance to lower your shipping costs, I can do that, but I will not be responsible if the item is lost or stolen.

You must check to be sure your address is entered correctly for shipping. Unclaimed and returned packages will not be resent - a refund will be given only if a package is returned (minus shipping cost). If resending the item is necessary, additional postage must be paid for the additional postage fees.

Items are shipped in 1-3 business days. I do not ship on holidays or during severe weather (blizzards, hurricanes, etc.).

I cannot be held responsible for any items stuck in customs. Buyer pays for any customs/duties/VAT tax/local tax if necessary. I will not lie on customs forms and say your item is a gift, of lesser value, etc.
Refunds and Exchanges
**Please read carefully!**

For all transactions: returns will not be accepted and refunds WILL NOT be issued unless you contact me requesting a return first.

Important Info:
If there is a problem with the item you ordered, please contact me as soon as possible. I am very reasonable and enjoy open, friendly communication with customers. I want you to be happy with your purchase. I request that you discuss any problems you may have with me before leaving negative feedback, opening a case or instigating a Paypal dispute.

Engagement Ring Return Policy:
Engagement rings must be described as such in the listing title (eg. "Antique Victorian Engagement Ring"). Engagement rings that have not been resized are returnable for a full refund not including shipping if sent back within 7 days of receipt for any reason. The 7 days are from the day you receive it to the day your drop it off at the post office to send it back. It doesn't include the time it's in transit - it's just the time the ring is in your possession. Returned rings must be in their original condition with no damage, no sizing, or other alterations made to the ring or stones. It is up to the buyer to make sure that the ring bought matches their requirements and expectations within the 7 days. I encourage you to get an appraisal, have the ring examined by a jeweler you like, etc. - whatever you need to do to make sure it is exactly what you want within those 7 days.

Return Policy for All Other Jewelry:
I only offer returns on items that are substantially different from their description. Returns for this reason are accepted within 7 days of receipt. There are no refunds on items you have had in your possession for more than 7 days, or on items that have been altered or damaged in any way.

Re-stocking fee
In short: If you ask for a return and I say I'll accept it then you mail it back within a reasonable amount of time, you will not be charged a restocking fee.
I charge a 15% restocking fee in rare circumstances when items are not returned in a timely manner eg. when a customer requests a return but does not actually send the item back for 4 months. The fee may also be charged on returns of items other than engagement rings where I would otherwise lose money on the return. This shop is run by me alone and I have a very small inventory with rapid turn-over. I can't afford to have unsold items unavailable to other customers. Fees may also be subtracted from your refund if an item is returned broken, damaged, or without notice or approval.
If you feel you have been charged a fee unjustly, please contact me. I am reasonable and fair and only levy fees like this when I feel someone's actions endanger the health of my business.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please keep in mind that all antique and vintage items are used unless otherwise noted. They should not be expected to be in like-new condition. Most of the pieces I find are over 100 years old and therefore will show some wear. I do my best to describe all visible defects. You should also carefully examine the photos as they are an integral part of the item's description.

I rate the condition of items on the following scale:
Mint - Items that are antique or vintage but have not been used and are in pristine condition.
Excellent - used condition, very light signs of wear with no significant defects or damage
Very good - used condition, may have minor defects or damage
Good - used condition with minor to moderate defects or damage
Fair - shows heavy use - moderate to significant defects but still wearable
Poor - has obvious damage and significant defects

Engagement Rings ONLY:
I am not set up to re-size rings, however, I can get your ring resized for you if you prefer to have me do it. There is no extra charge (unless noted in the listing) but it will take an additional week of turn-around time. Please convo me or include a note with your order and let me know what size you would like the ring to be. Keep in mind that once rings are resized they are no longer eligible for return.

All Other Rings:
I am not set up to re-size rings. If you need to have a ring re-sized I suggest using a jeweler in your local area. Sizing up or down 2-3 sizes is pretty simple so almost all jewelers should be able to do it for you. If you do not have access to a jewelry shop (e.g. if you're on a military base or in a remote area) I can get the ring sized for you. There is an extra charge for this service so please convo me for a price quote.

Diamonds and Precious Stones:
I have had some initial training in gemology, but I am NOT an expert by any means. Any grading information I include on diamonds comes from a professional GIA or EGL gemologist. Most stone identifications have also been made by a professional.

For antique rings, all brilliant cut and old cut diamond weights are estimates carefully calculated via formula from measurements using very precise digital calipers. Rose cut stones are notoriously difficult to estimate the size of so I include measurements for those and a best-guess estimate (using a formula). Removing stones from antique rings can damage or destroy them and for that reason I do not do it. An important part of the value of antique pieces is their rarity, condition and age - and not just diamond (or other stone) size/quality.
