About

Hello! Welcome to my shop, I am delighted you are here!

I am Sri, currently living in Iowa City with my husband and 2 boys. My art journey started when I was really young. I was encouraged by my school and my parents to pursue art. I used to draw portraits when I was little. Fifteen years ago, I started painting with watercolors and painted many floral pieces. My focus was big floral pieces 22" x 30". I sold several to different collectors through gallery and art shows. About 5 years ago, I started experimenting with acrylics. Acrylics and watercolors are exactly opposite in the way you paint. After overcoming the initial block in the technique and methods used in acrylics, I fell in love with the medium.

Today, I paint with both acrylics and watercolors. I find both mediums fascinating and they both help me paint the way I feel and the way I want my subject to be portrayed.

I recently started a "Mini Iowa" series. These are small acrylic paintings that are then coated with resin varnish to a beautiful colorful finish. These make excellent addition to your decor. They are small and can be hung or set in a fireplace or bookshelf. They can also be combined to form a unique display.

As I was born and brought up in India, the culture plays a important role in my artwork. Colors are important to my culture, color is associated with happiness. I find myself loving colors and want to bring them to my paintings. I feel happy when my paintings are colorful.

I also create polymer clay, resin and beaded jewelry. If you are interested, please check them out here - www.beadsandblingart.etsy.com
