Announcement   Welcome to my etsy shop!! My name is Laura and I enjoy making fiber art jewelry when I am not busy on larger artwork and running my event business.

Each item I make is an original design. The styles of different pieces may be similar and can be exactly replicated if requested, but I prefer making each piece one of a kind.

I hope you enjoy what you find here. If you would like to make a custom order (specific color, design, etc.), please contact me.

I love this necklace. It's makes me happy. Children can't stop staring at it and they ask me what it is and if I made it. I say, "A very talented artist made it. Look at how small the knots are. Do you think you could make something like that?" I have a purple sweater that I love with it.

About

I spend my days making knots and turning them into wearable art...

I have been in love with string for as long as I can remember, collecting and hoarding yarn and cord without ever knowing what I would use it for. I could not knit. I could not crochet. But I loved macrame. I remember my mom making hanging macrame pieces with glass tables that went from ceiling to floor; string was everywhere. Using knotting techniques to make necklaces and bracelets, I began to have a use for all the string I'd been collecting. I worked up to making larger pieces, bags, and a guitar strap. For a few years this was enjoyable enough to satisfy my desire to make things while raising children. When I discovered weaving, I began combining it with knotting for wall hangings and honing my focus in that direction.

But my desire to do more was strong. I started exploring sculpture again, something I had not worked on since I was in school, and began integrating weaving and macrame into large forms with wire armature. I am currently focusing on knotted tapestry, woven sculpture, and knotted basketry. And while it is slow and often tedious, I find a great deal of satisfaction in the meditative process of knotting and weaving.

I have recently come full-circle to making wearable art again. When I need a break from the projects that can take months to complete, I find satisfaction in making fiber art jewelry that is highly influenced by my sculptures and textiles.

I keep a blog for progress shots and final pieces of all kinds from jewelry to sculptures.
