About

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso

Wife, proud mother and Nicholls State graduate in graphic art. My plate is full of exciting things from working full time as a graphic artist as well as working nightly and weekends as a artist who focuses on impasto oil paintings and pencil portraits. Two very active children keep me grounded and supplied with endless love. I'm grateful everyday for the blessing bestowed on my family and I. Remembering to appreciate the journey rather than focusing solely on the destination!

I’ve never lost that childhood wonder and awe of creating something from a blank canvas. I grew up on the West Bank of New Orleans in Marrero. I went to Nicholls State gaining a degree in Graphic Art in 1999 and I've lived in Houma ever since. I enjoy the freedom of oil painting with palette knives verses brushes in an impasto style (heavy texture). Impasto is a three dimensional painting style that is truly a sculptural form of painting. Every angle you view the painting from you will see something differently. The way the light cast shadows off of the peaks and valleys of the textured paint are something you can not achieve in a traditional painting style. My art reflects the bright colors and incredible textures that surround us everyday. I'm inspired by landscapes and buildings from South Louisiana including New Orleans and Houma/Thibodaux area. I enjoy creating a piece that is your very own personal view of that particular place. A view that could be from today or 100 years ago. It's up to you to tell that story in your mind as you look into the scene.

The satisfaction of bringing life to an idea that previously only existed in my head is a major drive for me to create. After the work, the time spent creating, everything merges together when I see it as a completed piece. It's no longer a stepped process to achieve an end result but an intricate work I've given my all to. That moment never losses it's appeal.

I hope you enjoy viewing my works as much as I have enjoyed creating them. If you are interested in having me create something for you send me an e-mail at fabre.stacey [!at] gmail.com. My work can also be seen at staceyfabre.blogspot.com.
