Handmade accessories by Adelina Starace made from repurposed materials!
I am Adelina Starace; owner and designer of Starace|1919. A former interior designer, I left a career in the architectural industry to pursue a passion; design and run a successful home business based on accessories for city dwellers. I wanted to do something that would allow my creativity to flow, but also allow me to be home raising my three beautiful children. A hipster at heart, I am fascinated with this urban lifestyle that is dominating the Pacific Northwest. Starace 1919 is my spin on what it’s all about . . .
The “1919″ in the company name comes from the Dopp kit. The “dopp kit” was invented by Charles Doppelt in 1919, and is the signature item in my product line. My products are made from a variety of repurposed materials including vintage blazers, neckties and commercial upholstery fabrics. I have partnered with a local manufacturing company to take their scraps and turn them into accessories for my shop. The “Starace” part of the company is my last name. It’s pronounced “sta-ra-chee” like “Versace.” And so, Starace | 1919 was created.
I have an Environment, Textiles and Design degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a graduate of the UW, I am a Big Ten Football fan and you'll often find me on Saturdays during football season in my living room cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers. Originally from San Antonio, TX, I grew up travelling the world as an Army brat, but have settled in Seattle, WA with my husband and three kids. I am quite happy to call the Emerald City my home!
Come back often to see what I’m up to or “like” the Starace | 1919 Facebook page for product updates. Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you find something you like.
Owner, Maker, Designer
Starace|1919 repurposes fabric scraps gathered from the Seattle area that would normally end up in a landfill and turns them into quality made accessories for the urban dweller.
