Welcome and thanks for taking a look at my fine art woodblock prints. Each print is an original, hand pulled by the artist (me), using traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking methods. Water based inks are thinly brushed on to the blocks and impressions are made using a baren onto a variety of Japanese mulberry papers.

If you have any questions about the descriptions in any listings, please don't hesitate to ask. Most prints are sized to fit in standard frames. If you'd like me to cut a custom mat, please see the mat listings.

Thanks again for looking!

About

Printmaker.

From the moment I fell head-over-heels in love with fine art printmaking in 2009 I have felt like it's what I'm supposed to be doing, as if everything else was preparation and education and training. A self-taught artist, I have always worked professionally as an illustrator (primarily architecture) and graphic designer. After 18 years of running my own business I accepted an offer for a staff position at a large architectural firm so I could spend more time on fine art works...at the time it was a passion for soft pastels. I'm still there, but looking forward to a time when all the design and artwork I do will be of my own creation.

While compelled by all forms of printmaking, I am overwhelmingly attracted to the traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking methods, aka moku hanga, and I use these techniques throughout my printmaking process. I am as inspired by the techniques and materials and tools as I am by the images I am driven to create. Light and atmosphere, as well as the randomness of natural shapes and textures and their structures all play a role in what will be my next print.

Somewhat obsessive and detail oriented, I have to set alarms to stop my woodblock carving as I get so incredibly engrossed I lose all track of time. That's a good place to be.
