About

Starlet Vintage brings you quality, hand selected vintage, sourced from Canada's west coast.

I still remember the absolute thrill of discovery – a teenager
from a small northern town exploring the big city and finding
tucked-away thrift and antique shops. In the north, at that time,
a completely foreign concept. I was jaw droppingly. light bulb flashingly, hooked.

I went on to study pattern making, fashion history, tailoring, and
garment construction, this new passion fed and inspired me.
I 'picked' for vintage shops, collected vintage textiles, stayed up all night
making OOAK and limited run garments for local Indie Designer shops.

Vintage clothing collected during this time became the first stock
for the Starlet Vintage brick and mortar shop, a 10 year wonderful
journey, just recently let go for the sake of a little more sanity, a
little more freedom, and the pleasure of a slower pace, with much
wanted time to devote to my etsy shop.

As I navigate this very special marketplace, I so enjoy the opportunities
to interact and grow with my customers and to offer them the quality of
construction, materials, and workmanship that vintage has to offer.

Antidote to the throw-away, unethically produced garments flooding the chain stores,
the history, stories and imaginings of vintage pieces help us see alternatives
that value instead of harm our world, and to the kindred thinkers, and lovers of vintage – thank you !
I hope you enjoy the finds (:

Every package shipped from my studio will come to you gift wrapped,
professionally and safely packaged, and include care instructions, as well as
a coupon code for 15% off your next purchase at Starlet Vintage !

Shipping
I will ship your item within 2 business days of receiving payment.

This will usually take 4 -8 business days, no more than 10 days to the U.S.
Please choose tracked Tracked International Packet at checkout if you need to track your package.
Shipping to Europe is by Small Packet Air which doesn't include tracking - or Tracked International Packet if requested, except to the UK and Italy which is by Express Post or Tracked International Package only.
I combine shipping automatically.
Parcels to some International Destinations can take up to 4 - 8 weeks to arrive.
If your package wouldn't fit in your mail slot or box, or no one was home at time of delivery, it may have gone to your local post office for pickup.
I have no control over the postal system or packages once they leave my studio and therefore cannot be responsible for lost or delayed packages.
One in approx. 10 - 12 packages internationally may be held up in customs for duties or tariffs, this seems to be a random selection determined by the destination country and is completely beyond my control.
International customers are responsible to their home countries for duties and tariffs.
If you have any questions at all, please convo me, I'm always happy to hear from you and will get back to you as soon as I see your message (:
Refunds and Exchanges
Being vintage, and therefore pre-loved, a certain amount of wear might be in evidence, and occasionally an amazing find might have a minor flaw that won't affect wearability. I will make you aware of any imperfections, and anything noticeable will include a photo. The item will be priced accordingly.
I take a lot of care to measure all the pieces accurately, please also see "additional information" for measuring and sizing info and guidelines, to be sure your garment fits before you order as I do not accept returns for garments that don't fit.
Additional policies and FAQs
A few points about sizing...

SHOE SIZING:

The LENGTH measurement I give for shoes is always the measurement of the INSIDE sole of the shoe from tip of toe to very back of heel unless otherwise specified.
WIDTH refers to the widest INSIDE measurement at the ball of the foot

HAT MEASUREMENTS:

All hats are measured from the inside, around the hat band if there is one.
Try to measure around your own head where the hat depicted in shop sits on the mannequin's head to see if the hat will fit you in the same way.

21" = XS, or Size 6 5/8
21.5" to 21 3/4" = S, or Size 6 3/4 to 6 7/8
22" to 22 1/2" = M, or Size 7 to 7 1/8
22 3/4" to 23" = L, or Size 7 1/4 to 7 3/8
23 1/2" to 24" = XL, or Size 7 1/2 to 7 5/8

WHEN I POST GARMENT MEASUREMENTS:,

LENGTH: Top of shoulder to hem, unless otherwise stated
BUST: Armpit to Armpit x 2 ( usually top of side seam at under-arm )
WAIST: Sideseam to Sideseam at the waist or an estim. x 2
HIP: Sideseam to sideseam at the hip at fullest point
SLEEVE: Shoulder seam to bottom of sleeve
SHOULDER: from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

It's important to remember that your garment won't be very comfortable, if it's measurements are your exact body measurements, (unless it's stretchy.)
The extra fabric required for comfort is called ease, and ideally you'll want the following amount for a vintage no-stretch garment for comfortable fit:

BUST: 1 1/2 "
WAIST: 1"
HIP: 2"

note: 50s and early 60s dresses are often cut to accommodate a girdled waist, if you plan to belt your dress and don't mind a tight waist fit, a zero or negative ease might be appropriate.

Please measure yourself carefully, and compare the item to the measurements of something you already own that has a similar cut and fabric and fits you well, as I don't accept returns for items that don't fit.

If you still have have questions about whether or not that one of a kind vintage piece will fit you, please contact me !
