Preserving America's Homesteads
I really enjoy making landscape farm scenes using watercolors and some acrylics and have found a niche in the market place since my daughter encouraged me to start an etsy shop. Usually I will see a farm as I am travelling and snap some photos to be used back in my studio to work up a pencil drawing. I transfer this drawing to 140 lb. watercolor paper and try to finish the painting in one setting, usually one evening after dinner.
From an artists eye I see farm buildings as shapes, squares, rectangles, triangles, etc. that I place on a horizon crisscrossed by fields, fences, and tree lines.
I have taken photos of barns, houses, farm buildings, and windmills in state after state as I have travelled across the midwest and by now have hundreds of photos filed away by date and state. Many of the barns I have painted have since fallen because of disrepair or wind and the elements. I feel I am preserving a part of American history and handing it down to those who purchase a painting from me. Some of my customers have said a particular painting reminded them of a grandparents farm or maybe the farm they grew up on. That's very satisfying to me and I thank the Lord I am able to make these wonderful paintings.

Owner, Maker
Since taking my first art class 20 years ago I've been making and selling farm landscapes that I have sold to customers around the world. I've found a niche in the 8x10 winter snowfall paintings, I love making them.
