I wanted to use this section to say a few things about my use of environmentally friendly materials.

While my business is not entirely "green," I do think that recycling and using environmentally friendly materials and cruelty-free materials is very important. I have begun to focus more on using green yarns and fibers and to get away from using non-environmentally friendly fibers. The processing and dyeing of wool and other fibers is not always environmentally friendly, but there are many green ways to do this. While I will continue to purchase yarns and fibers that I like and that are appropriate for a project, I am also actively seeking out more eco-friendly fibers such as organic fibers, soy silk, tencel, EcoSpun, SeaCell, ingeo, milk protein, and waste fibers such as mill ends and sari silk. I will also look for wools and other animal fleece fibers that are raised on small, privately owned farms and rescue farms.

I do have a few items made from acrylic or acrylic blend yarns, but when my stash of acrylic-containing yarns is depleted, I will no longer be using acrylic because the production of acrylic is bad for the environment.

Also, I do not purchase cultivated or bombyx silk because the silk worms are killed to process the silk. Sari silk is the only type of silk I use that is processed this way, and I use it because it would otherwise be thrown away.

I also make an effort to use vintage and "upcycled" materials. I use vintage buttons on my items, and I purchase vintage or made-from-vintage embellishments. I also use materials such as plastic shopping bags, leftover garland, video tape, and fabric remnants.

Finally, please see the Shipping section below for a few words about my shipping supplies.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept three forms of payment: PayPal, personal check, and RME (Revolution Money Exchange). If you would like to pay by RME, please choose "Other" as the payment option and include your e-mail address in the notes to seller. If you pay with a check, I will ship the item(s) purchased when the check clears my bank.

Please pay or send a check within 3 days of your purchase. If you are unable to pay within that time, please convo me to see if we can work something out. Otherwise I will cancel the sale. If you are paying by check, please convo me when you mail the check so I know to look for it.

If you would like to cancel an order, please convo me.
Shipping
For US shipments, I ship USPS First Class mail or Priority Mail, depending on the weight. For International shipments, I ship USPS First Class International mail. If you would like to upgrade to Priority Mail, please convo me before paying your invoice, and I will revise the invoice with the increased shipping cost. artsy partsy kits are shipped in Priority Mail flat rate boxes. If you order an artsy partsy kit and other items that fit in the flat rate box, the shipping charges for the other items will be refunded. My shipping prices are based on First Class mail; however, if Priority Mail is less, I will ship that way and refund any difference that is $1 or more.

Most of my items are wrapped in tissue paper and shipped in recycled, recyclable mailers. Some larger or bulky items are shipped in boxes. If you order multiple items, I will ship in either a bubble mailer or box, depending on the size of the items. Please note that the price of packaging is including in my shipping and handling charges, so if you notice a difference in the postage price and the shipping charge, that is why. I ALWAY give a refund if I have overcharged for shipping by $1 or more.

I ship within 3-5 days of order payment. If it will be longer for any reason, I will convo you.

I am willing to ship to a giftee address. Please convo me with the address and let me know if it is a gift. For items shipped to giftees, I will include a small gift tag and a packing slip without prices listed (also see Additional Information section).

It is difficult to figure exact shipping prices because the USPS prices are based on weight. My shipping charges are based on a range of weights and the price for those as well as a nominal amount for packaging and travel (to the post office). Because it is difficult to calculate these exactly, I will ALWAYS give a refund if I have overcharged for shipping by $1 or more.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want all of my customers to be happy with their purchases. If you are not happy for any reason, please convo me. I am willing to take returns/exchanges of items in the original condition within 30 days of purchase. However, I will not refund shipping charges, and the buyer is responsible for return shipping. I will only accept returns of custom orders if it is an item that I can resell or if it was not made to the original, agreed-upon specifications.

Please be aware that many handknit items are delicate and need to be cared for properly. I provide clear care instructions with all items. If you machine wash a handwash-only item and it felts, I will not accept that as a return.
Additional policies and FAQs
I will provide more extensive gift services. I will gift wrap an item for a nominal fee (to cover the expense of the gift wrap). I am also happy to work on a custom gift item. Please convo me if you are interested in any of these services.

I am willing to do bulk orders on some items. Please convo me to discuss.

ALLERGY ALERT: I knit all items in my smoke-free, cat-friendly home or in my parents' or friends' smoke-free, cat- and dog-friendly homes. All of my yarns and finished items are stored with lavender sachets to keep the critters away (lavender is a natural insect repellant). If you purchase an item from me, you may notice a slight scent to the items; the scent is lavender.
