One stitch at a time
Hello there, I am Svenna, a therapeutic art practitioner, now working from home and looking after my two little boys.
I grew up in Germany, but have lived in England for the past ten years. Until recently, I have lived and worked in a Camphill Community with young people with special needs, which is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Anthroposophy. This has had a profound impact on my outlook child education, play, celebrations, crafts and life.
I started knitting baby clothes years before I fell pregnant for the first time, mostly because they are so lovely and quick to make, so I had quite a stash when the little one arrived! He is four years old now, and needs much bigger clothes!
Now that I have children myself, I am more conscious of the way the yarn feels and what it is made of – I prefer to use natural materials with beautiful colours for everything I make.
My husband calls my workspace my “factory”, but I want it to be anything but. I want to create unique items, that are a joy to make, give, and wear. I have started with baby hats, and now extended to vests and wool felt embroidery hoop art, and seasonal crafts for decorating your nature corner, such as delicate flower fairies and kits to make your own spring chicken egg warmers, and other little gifts!
No two items are the same, so you can be sure to find something unique in this little shop.
My crafty companion in Germany, my mum, supplies Stitch & Purl with beautiful hand knit fingerless gloves and woolly socks that are very popular.
