About StitchandWitchDesign
I grew up very poor in the Western Mountains of Maine. We didn't always have food, electricity or even running water. However, since my mother was an elementary school teacher, and my father an artist, we always had art supplies around. My clothes were hand-me-downs and my school supplies were donations.
I found myself sewing, gluing and coloring on my belongings in order to express my identity and feel comfortable in my skin. When I couldn't afford a dress for a high school dance, my best friend and I took her old skirt, scattered silk roses in the lace, and paired it with a tank top.
I sewed my own clothes, collaged my cheap notebooks, and made my own jewelry out of whatever supplies were around.
I still personalize everything I touch. I color, bead, glue, knit, sew, upcycle and create all day long. I love to give a witchy spin to every day items, and I celebrate Halloween year round.
