Announcement   Thanks for stopping by!

In my shop you will find a variety of eclectic items: things crafted from well loved, well worn vintage quilts or items made from all new materials. Occasionally something else vintage will pop up too. And sometimes I will throw in something abstract and contemporary. It is always a mixed bag, whatever I am having fun with at the moment. :)

Check back often for new products. If you have a special request, convo me and I’ll see what we can do.

This is my only Etsy shop, but I do purchase goodies for myself under the account ShoreBookworm.

The pincushion is beautiful and of great quality--Awesome needlework. I'm very pleased with my purchase and the little extra that was thrown in.

About

What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been!

Born in New York City in 1954 (I'm mid-century modern, lol), I got off to an absolutely ordinary start, a friendly little bookworm with no burning ambitions whatsoever. Except to be able to read as much as possible. In the ensuing 60 years I have had to re-invent myself so many times, I have lost count.

I started with a degree in English, then became a mom, my best and favorite job ever. Along the way I became a La Leche League leader, a certified childbirth educator and then went back to school and became a nurse. Widowed suddenly at 39, I sped up the corporate ladder to executive level in the healthcare field. Reeling in six figures, I thought I had it made. Life was good.

Then, at 50, I found out I had multiple sclerosis. I kept working and kept the MS to myself. But as it progressed, my career crashed and burned.

While becoming disabled has been financially devastating, there are some positives. I have more time now to do what I love, write, read, visit with friends. Additionally, the ability to express my creativity through fiber arts now is a true gift. Two of my aunts taught me how to sew as a child and I will be grateful to them forever. We have converted my den into a sewing room and, while I give most of my work away as gifts, I have created my little Etsy shop to supplement my now meager income.

Just when I thought I had adjusted to the devastating MS diagnosis, it was discovered that I had Stage Four breast cancer. Hard to believe, huh? Time to reinvent myself again. I'm sicker than ever, but still hanging in there, doing as much as I can for as long as I can. In many ways, I am very lucky.

Please stop by my blog, where I post about the adventure life is with MS and cancer. http://nourishourselves.blogspot.com

About me: vintage 1954, writer, four grown children, six adorable grandkids, cat, dog, old house, sewing, knitting, books, books and more books. Multiple sclerosis. And now, incredibly, Stage Four breast cancer. Sheesh. Enough already!
