About

Stitching Bevy: Historical and Vintage Reproduction Clothing, Accessories, and Housewares

Stitching Bevy LLC was founded in 2009 by Emily Runyan and Faith Agostinone Wilson. Both of us have experience with sewing, knitting, crochet, and needlework along with Civil War and Renaissance reenacting. Stitching Bevy prides itself in using historically accurate patterns, fabric, and trims to create the same effect as an actual vintage garment. We work from our existing found fabric, trim, and yarn collections which ensures that each item is unique and one of a kind.

As part of the slow clothing movement, we believe that it is critical for people to learn to understand the importance of handmade items. Therefore all of our items are made by us and not a sweatshop, paid piecework, or in a factory. In addition to our Etsy site, we have a website, Facebook page, Pinterest page, and sell in local art shows. Our items are also featured at Sidecar Studios, 405 S. Washington Street, in Waukegan, Illinois.

Shop policies

Last updated on January 14, 2016
Welcome to Stitching Bevy, LLC!

Please note that we do not issue refunds and that all sales are final. In those cases where items are returned, it will be for store credit only, and customer is responsible for postage costs. Any item marked "sale" is final with no refunds or exchanges given. We want you to have a positive experience shopping with us. No question is too silly to ask prior to ordering!

All of our packages in the U.S. are shipped via Priority Mail. Most take 2-3 days to arrive and are provided a tracking number. Make sure you allow extra time for delivery as we cannot control for packages arriving late. Once the item leaves our hands, we cannot control when it arrives. We will let you know as soon as an item ships out and will send you a tracking number. Customer is responsible for postage costs for exchanges.

All our items are handmade by either Emily or Faith who are the shop owners. These items do not come from a factory nor do we use sweatshop labor or paid piecework. We make everything you see in the shop. Some of the items feature repurposed vintage materials that have been washed prior to creation- this will be indicated clearly in the item description so you will know what you are getting.

However, due to the handmade and unique nature of our items, all sales are final. In the event of a return being made, it will be for store credit and not a refund. The exception to this are items marked "sale"- those are final with no refunds or exchanges given. We do not have the large scale inventory required to sustain a return policy. This way you can be assured that what you are purchasing is new and has not been worn previously. This is especially the case with unique historical garments such as Civil War and Renaissance garments. If you have placed an order and it has not yet been shipped out, you will receive a refund upon request. For items that are exchanged, they have to be sent back within three business days after our approval, in unworn condition.

If you are ordering with a deadline in mind, allow extra time for the item to arrive as we do not accept returns due to the post office being later than stated on their website.

Each item includes detailed measurements that are actual dimensions of the flat garment. Because garment industry sizes vary as much as 2-3 inches, we do not use numerical sizing for young adult and adult clothing that you might be used to seeing in stores. S,M,L,XL and so forth are used only as an approximate guide for our item titles. It is critical that you measure yourself carefully: bust, waist, hips, armholes, length/inseam. Please do not hesitate to ask us questions about fit.

The best way to proceed is to compare your own body measurements to the measurements provided in the item description. Keep in mind that you want to include 1-2 inches for ease. This means that if a bust size of 38 is listed, if your bust measurement is also 38, the item will be too tight. Please ask questions about anything you are unsure of.

Measure your body carefully and contact us if you have any questions before placing your order. We are happy to answer any question you have and will work with you on an individualized basis.
