Clay is so cool!
One Christmas long ago, my parents gave me a small electric kiln. I had no idea what it was, but soon discovered it had magical powers that could transform soft clay into fired handmade treasures…thus began my adventures into pottery creation.
Clay can be formed by rolling into coils, pinching, pressing, throwing, molding, pouring—I prefer throwing on the potter’s wheel or hand building with thin slabs of clay.
I love making accent pieces that are decorative when empty, yet helpful at holding things such as flowers, pens, brushes, cotton swabs, guitar picks, coins and that dreaded desk clutter. Regardless of function, I simply want my pottery to cheer up your day.
My pots have a quiet presence. My style is somewhat unpretentious with a little dash of embellishment. Some pieces may be similar, but no two identical. I sign each on the bottom.
I greatly admire the works of Lucy Rie, Beatrice Wood, Warren MacKenzie and so many other masters of clay.
Thanks for listening.

P.S. My first kiln from long ago is long gone. I now have a beautiful brick downdraft kiln built by Donovan Palmquist that is a thrill to fire!

Pottery is my fun time. I work 40 hours a week as a "creative" director, then come home to my pottery studio where I can actually "be" creative.
