stormyautumn's Shop Announcement

Darning Eggs are not just for mending,
they can also be a WORK OF ART.

You can view a flickr set of darning eggs that I have made here:

Darning eggs are useful for more than darning socks. They can be good for separating layers of knitted fabric when weaving in ends, reinforcing seams, or working with duplicate stitch. When working in small spaces like inside a mitten thumb, sock or baby garment they can be especially helpful.

I have been working on the curved surface of the egg for over 10 years as a pysanky egg artist, also known as Ukrainian Easter eggs. I have earned my novice and intermediate certification in Batik Folk Egg Art through the International Egg Art Guild. I also had the honor of decorating the State of Vermont Easter Egg for the White House Visitor's Center Display in 2007. You can find some of my decorated eggs at stormyautumn.org.

I have also become obsessed with knitting, dying yarn, and spinning. It was only a matter of time before I found a way to bring my love of eggs together with my love of the fiber arts. Each darning egg is coated with a uv-resistant acrylic varnish.

All designs can be made on other styles of darning eggs. I also accept custom orders.
