Announcement   If you're ordering for Christmas, note that the last order date for US and Canada orders shipped by Royal Mail is Thursday 13th December (they'll all go in the post on Friday 14th). You can upgrade to express shipping after that but it's quite expensive! For UK orders you can carry on ordering up to 17th for second class post, 19th for first class post.
From 5pm on the 19th of December we'll be on holiday until 2019. We'll still be answering your customer service queries, but maybe a bit more slowly than usual and over the mince pies.

Thank you all so much for your custom in 2018 and we look forward to lots more badges, shirts and enamel pins in 2019! All the best, Alison and Marianne.

About

Shirts and pinback button badges from Stow Shirts

We sell t-shirts online, mostly political and geeky ones. You can see them at stowshirts.com, and we're starting to list some of them on Etsy as well, using our printing partner Printful. But not everyone can afford custom apparel, and we wanted to sell badges for people for whom a t-shirt is a bit spendy.

We now have our own badge machine, and can make badges in three sizes. We're also selling fridge magnets in all three sizes, and mirrors in the largest size. If you need a super-safe badge for a small child, we offer that in the 38mm medium size.

The badges, magnets and mirrors cost between £1 and £3 and we're happy to ship them worldwide. Our shipping's flat rate, and we do volume discounts.

If you have ideas for things we should put on badges, or indeed shirts, let us know. Some of our favourite shirts were suggestions from our customers. We also do custom badges, with your photos and text.

We use recycled packaging wherever we possibly can. If you're in or near Walthamstow and have a pile of bubble mailers in that size that's too small to be of any use, get in touch to swap them for badges.

  • Alison Scott

    Owner, Designer, Maker

Hi; I design things and sell them on the Internet.

  • Marianne

    Assistant

My daughter Marianne sometimes helps out with making and posting the badges when I'm busy, and with keeping all the boxes and badge parts organised.

  • Jonathan

    Assistant

My son Jonathan has started to help me; he helps make the badges and ship them.

  • Sue Mason

    Artist

My dear friend (and bridesmaid) Sue Mason does some of the art for my designs. Where it's one of her designs I list that on the item page.

Production partners

  • A specialist clothing embroidery company

    Enfield, England

My partner embroiders my designs onto apparel items for sale.

  • A specialist enamel pin maker

    Kunshan, China

I don't have the facilities to work with enamel myself, so I use a specialist to make enamel pins from my designs for me to resell.

  • Printful

    Chatsworth, CA

We've started to put a few of our designs onto t-shirts in our Etsy store which our friends at Printful will print (in the US or Europe) and ship to you.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

We can normally customise badges for you. See our custom listings for badges with photos and text. If you want something particularly odd, get in touch and ask. Make sure you have the rights to use anything you ask us to put on a badge. Custom badges will typically take us a couple of days extra to ship.

Care instructions

Our badges contain a sharp pin. They're not toys, so please don't give them to small children. We can do a super-safety badge on request; let us know.

These badges will eventually rust if you leave them in a damp environment.

Wholesale availability

We have listings for 5, 10, 15 or 20 badges at a discount. If you want to order lots of badges, get in touch. We're happy to supply to shops or resellers, and offer wholesale rates on orders of 100 or more items - and you can still mix and match within reason.

What sizes of badges (buttons) do you make?

We have a lovely new badge machine (photos coming soon!) that does three different sizes: 25mm (1"), 38mm (1 1/2") and 58mm (2 1/4"). We can also do fridge magnets in all those sizes, and mirrors in the largest size.

Can you do mirrors, keyrings, bottle openers, or super safe badges for small children?

We have 58mm mirrors and 38mm super safe badges.

Sizing details

If you're getting a shirt, please look at sizing information carefully. Printful print all these shirts to order, and while they'll obviously replace if the shirt is damaged or mis-printed, they don't replace if you change your mind or the shirt doesn't fit. We still accept returns -- see our shop policies -- but you'll need to return the shirt to us at your expense (in the UK) in good order.
